That's an odd thing to say, considering POG is filmed at TVC.

But as a *fascinating* aside, I did a casting for Tarrant's new game show. They made me sign a document saying I wouldn't publish information about it, so I suppose I'll have to confine my report to the Secret Forum.

Not that there is one, of course.

Paul O'Grady has been at TLS for a couple of series now. I suspect they had to move out of TVC as TC4 was being HD'ed, and the other mid sized studios were full of Golden Balls, Johnny Ross and Tichmarsh.

Interesting that 12 Yard got you to sign the Official Gameshow Secrets Act, Gavin. Cant ask you why on Lost in TV website it says recording takes 2 hours plus a 30 minute break then... I have tickets for a recording of the show.

Co-incidentally, The Colour Of Money will be the first audience based show that 12 Yard have recorded away from Television Centre (the US version of Who Dares Wins for GSN was recorded in Studio 2 at LWT in August - but unless Challenge show it, I won't ever get to see the episode I went to see being taped) Nice to see the owners of the company working the shareholder magic...

Its going out after Saturday Night Takeaway on ITV1, so you'll see it. I'm pretty sure I'm able to say that if Tarrant is plugging.

EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood what show you were referring to.

Here's a crazy idea. Why don't they scrap it all and make everything regional again... Rolling Eyes Wink

You're absolutely right. It is a crazy idea.

ITV will never go back to regional names because in this new age of television, brand consistency isn't just a buzzword - it's a necessity. Television has become a competition for who can shove their name in your face the most, and if ITV doesn't at least make a valiant effort, they will be lost in a sea of E-numbers.

Plus there's the fact that business usually move forward, not back. And how are they expected to deal with the closure of certain regions?

UKTV are paying rather a lot of money to disprove your theory there.

UKTV is not as big of a network as ITV, nor does it have regional news operations.

Also, I predict that UKTV will add their name back on to their station names in a year or so.

Seriously, though, they've not added "UKTV" back onto Dave, so why would they onto the others? The new names seem to be working for now...

In what way aren't the new UKTV names consistant?... They're all consistant and well branded by themselves - Dave doesn't change it's name during the day or have several diffrent logos

'ITV Laugh' sounds ludicrous. You can either have wacky names like 'Laugh Productions' or corporate like 'ITV Comedy', but the two don't combine somehow.

What's wrong with having a strong corporate identity like 'ITV Drama' but giving it personality with a tag-line or slogan?

You mean like 'UKTV Drama'? The meeja community has decided that such things are now passé, hence 'Alibi'.

Despite my initial objections to the removal of the UKTV tag, I actually now prefer the presentational style of Watch and Alibi.
