First Granada Productions then ITV Productions now ITV Studios, I'd wish they'd make their minds up, I fail to see what's wrong with what we have now, it's ITV Productions on ITV and Granada (country/Production) for everything else they do.
Saying that having BBC Productions doesn't really help.

The BBC Vision directorate is divided into a lot of 'studios'. They're just departments really. No-one really knows why they're called 'studios' because there aren't studios per sé in a lot of locations where many of these departments are based (Bristol or Birmingham for example).
The cynic in me would suggest that they're using the name 'studio' to try and appear that they still operate studio facilities across the network when in fact they're closed most of them.

ITV Studios production? Sounds very American. Sounds very rubbish.
Pointless waste of time rebranding to 'ITV Studios'. No-one calls it that, even Chris Tarrant on Paul O'Grady on Wednesday evening talking about his new gameshow said "We recorded the pilot last weekend here at London Weekend " so, nice to know old habits don't die..
I actually liked the ITV Productions name - only the smeered window endcap let the side down. If they were going to have a new name, why not just stick the location of the production office after it, so..
ITV Productions London
ITV Productions Manchester
ITV Productions Leeds
Much better.

That's an odd thing to say, considering POG is filmed at TVC.
But as a *fascinating* aside, I did a casting for Tarrant's new game show. They made me sign a document saying I wouldn't publish information about it, so I suppose I'll have to confine my report to the Secret Forum.
Not that there is one, of course.

It's at London Studios
Oh? did it move then? It was TVC a year ago when I was there.

When the show moved to Channel 4 they had to use TVC as ITV did not allow them to use The London Studios.
Didn't they move back for the series last September? Or was it the one this March?

The series earlier this year. IIRC the first couple of weeks of that series were filmed at Teddington Studios and it moved to The London Studios.
ITV Studios sounds stupid but if it means we'll finally get rid of that hideous endcap then so be it.

Here's a crazy idea. Why don't they scrap it all and make everything regional again...

It isn't for that reason. It is because the word "studio" in the industry can also apply to a production operation (rather than an acoustic space with 4 walls, a flat floor and a lighting grid, and technical facilities) - though it is a slightly film rather than TV based usage.
All of the major movie production houses are called "studios" - though that doesn't mean the movies they make are shot in studios.
Many of the BBC Vision Studios shoot mainly or entirely location-based productions - so I don't think there is any confusion within the BBC that the departments called studios have TV production studios attached to them - and the studio designations are not really applied externally, so it doesn't matter what the public think about them. (The BBC Productions brand is used instead for public facing stuff)
