Hmmm - strange one this. Confused

But I must say that the new ITN production slide looks extremely and immaculately cool! Anyone else agree? Cool Wink Laughing

Yeah. It's a shame it took them so long to update it. It had been a plain blue background for years.

I must admit I couldn't quite understand the excitement on the day of the ITV relaunch for the ITV Productions cap. I thinks it's way too big, in your face and there's nothing remotely stylish about it.

As to the BBC, it's only been over the past couple(?) of years that animated logos have been allowed. So no endcap as such but near enough.

Yeh I agree, they said they were going 'back to basics' though. I think it's worked, but IMO I don't think I can identify with their idents (ironic). Their colours for news programmes is recognisable though.
I thought it funny at the end of the queen's speech simply because of the blue logo. I think it's every year they alternate, I'm not sure, ask her! Very Happy

Talking of ITV Prods, does anyone think the endcap looks cheap and nasty? A static caption on a black background would have been better.

No completely the opposite...

Well there's a surprise...

Well there's a surprise...

And its a surprise that most people dislike it

For years people have complained about the current idents with logos too small in the corner. The endcap has a big graphical logo and people still arn't happy

It's also no bigger than many 1990s endcaps

And unfortunately it has the style of the 1990s. There's nothing wrong with the size of it, more the design.

Where's that background come from? It has nothing to do with any other design element from the package.

Considering it was brought in to remove the 'clutter' from the end of programmes, it's quite a messy slide.

Something like this would be simple, cheap but effective:

Royle Family to return

Royle Family: last episode aired five years ago

The Royle Family creators Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash are working on a new one-off edition of the late 90s hit sitcom, to be broadcast on BBC1 later this year.
Aherne and her writing partner, Cash, are developing a new script for the special, more than five years after the last new episode of the show was broadcast.

All of the main cast members, including Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston, Ralf Little and Jessica Stevenson, are expected to return, provided they are available.

The Royle Family special is to be made by ITV Productions through controller of comedy and drama Andy Harries' department.

Mr Harries oversaw the previous three series and two specials, which were made by Granada in Manchester - where the new special will also be filmed.

The Royle Family proved a critical and ratings hit for BBC2 when it launched in September 1998.

After the first run the show transferred to BBC1 for two further series and two specials, the last of which was broadcast on Christmas Day 2000.
