On ITV, The X Factor dropped by over a million from last Sunday to 7.68m (29.4%) at 8pm. An added 333k (1.3%) watched on +1. However, many ITV viewers experienced blackouts during the show, so the final figures may have been affected by this.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! was also down by almost a million from last week to 9.40m (37.1%) at 9pm (370k/2.2% on +1).

There's one suggestion on Digital Spy, that D-Sat versions of the northern ITV regions were carrying Meridian ads during the outage, which would point to a playout (rather than coding) fault. Anyone else notice that ?

If that is the case that would rule out an encoder issue, but it could still be anywhere. For DSat all the ITV regions are sent down to Arqiva's transmission centre on William Road in London, which allows them to swap any regions they are missing with another one. Either Northern Transmission went down, or the links to Arqiva went down.

Isn't this off topic? What made you post in this thread?

Edit: Thanks for the tip though. I just caught the fun on Channel 4+1. It was literally just the adverts that didn't appear. I think the programme may have come back from the break a bit quicker than planned too, I was watching a black screen for what seemed like a much shorter time than a typical advert break would be on for.

It must be a power glitch at Technicolor in Leeds that Kirstall Road building must have issues affecting all the northern centres as it goes through there.

isnt itv in the north run by technicolor or something, I am thinking something went down there, Arqiva lost the signal from there, hence northern regions down? Confused
