I can't believe they've still not sorted it out. ITV, more like Sh*teTV.

It's not neccessarily their fault. To me it seems like the encoders for the northern ITV channels are not working as their streams are missing from the multiplex, which may be an Arqiva issue.

Given the way they've all disappeared it suggests there is a power cut wherever the encoders are, and given that Granada HD IS on air and Arqiva haven't yet rerouted them to Southern regions, it would suggest that the problem is indeed on Arqiva's end and not Northern Transmissions.

Given that Channel 4 is on the same mux and wasn't affected, it can't be an encoding/mux issue can it?

It can.

On a DVB multiplex, each channel is encoded individually, and then they are all combined together into a single transport stream (the multiplex) which is what is broadcast. In this case it seems the encoders for the ITV channels either stopped working or lost their links to the multiplexer.

It was definitely an encoder issue as my TV was showing an error given when it can't find or decode the stream for that channel.

Could there be a strange situation where Granada HD is actually done from the Southern centre and hence why it was not effected. The fact that there is less HD regions, and having them all together on one site means I wouldn't rule this out.

I don't watch X Factor, or a lot of STV, so I've no idea what happened in STV land. What did happen?

You have to feel for itv, these problems, or cuttings to adverts early, etc. always seem to happen during big programmes never in an early morning/over night slot when hardly anyone will be watching.

As far as I'm aware that didn't contravene any forum rules.

It was just a crap post, which added nothing to the conversation and made you look silly.
