ITV News will get a slight refresh.

No, that's an opinion implied as a statement of fact. You need to know the difference otherwise people will get miffed about it.

Also, I don't want to do the 'close the thread until we have anything confirmed' post so let's try and keep the meta talk to a minimum.

The news itself is quite exciting. Anything that's channelling 'BBC2 Lambie-Nairn era' is a winner for me. Hopefully the ITV Creative team are on the case, they've proven themselves over the last few years with a great body of work. I'll even forgive them the giant endboards. If I have just one request, please say we're losing the 'funeral' end credits style.

UTV will be interesting, it'll be the first refresh since ownership so would be a understandable time to do it.

I'm looking forward to it (hopefully) showing BBC One up for the embarrassment it is.

Duly noted. I apologise.

Does anyone know of when the new look of ITV will be appearing on screen? New Year's Day or later in January 2019? I have not heard anything about a refresh. Where did the refresh rumours come from? Cheers.

No set date that I've seen, but if anything ITV had rebrands in the middle of January in 2006 and 2013. I'd guess at Monday 14 January, but don't write it into your diaries.

When is ITV Daytime back to normal in the new year? Possibly a good assumptive date to go with.

I am assuming normal GMB and Lorraine will resume on Wednesday 2nd January, I don't know about This Morning.

Well at least we know there’ll be new Christmas idents next year Wink

With Channel 4, BBC Two and now ITV, we've definitely been spolied over the past couple of months.

If this lives up to the already wild expectations, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 will all have really good presentation at the same time. Which I think is quite nice.

All return on the 2nd.

With the B-teams I imagine.

It's the presentation rather than the idents I'm more interested in - think it's all been quite bland since they changed them a couple of years back.

I have no idea when the revamp will go live but the following dates would seem like strong possibilities.

* Jan 1 or whenever the Christmas idents go.

* A Monday in January - ITV revamps have tended to happen on Mondays.

*A Saturday - in line with the start of the week for most listings magazines.

But of course nobody saw the midweek BBC2 and C4 Family changes coming!

Let's stop the endless speculation until we know some hard facts! As people have already said, the actual changes sound exciting and it will be interesting to see if UTV remains the sole name of the main channel in NI.

If the UTV name is dropped, then what will be the name of their local news programme? ITV NI is fine for a local ITV name, but it will mean UTV Live will be gone, and what will replace it? Any ideas?

If anything like the rest of the regions, ITV News Ulster. That's pure speculation on my part.

I'd be very surprised if they went anywhere near the name Ulster.

BBC Northern Ireland in 1996 chose the complete neutral "Newsline". The same would surely be applied by ITV if they did decide to drop the name UTV you think?

It's entirely conceivable - and I stress again I have no inside knowledge - that ITV trails and idents could go out on UTV while UTV could stay as the local name for local output.

In the north west, the local news is still called Granada Reports and the weather is the Granada Weather - albeit under the ITV masterbrand.

I have no reason to doubt that ITV was sincere when it said three years ago that UTV would not become ITV NI. That isn't the same as promising not to use ITV branding and - wherever the intention - the current packaging has always looked to me like "transitional branding".
