It seems a bit strange that some of the idents are still based around the existing five coloured segmented logo format, whereas elsewhere they’re using the new, simplified version with the three segments.
I imagine, what with the theme being different artists' interpretations, they've probably let each artist choose which version to use.
The more that I see of this project the more I am liking the look of it, it's great to see a totally different look to the one currently. It'll be interesting to see how the one branding per week works, it may feel like overkill at first but we may miss the idebts later in the year. I wondered what inspired them to go down the route of one artist per week rather than a selection of idents by different artists (similar to BBC Two), though the is the fact of course that they can sell it to the artists, executives and now the viewers as such.
As you suggest Phil I am under the impression that it'll just be the idents that change, however it would be nice to see touches of the weeks branding in surrounding presentation, even if it's break bumpers or ECPs (however I won't hold out much hope as they've not used the festive versions of BBs or ECP design this year (despite them being available).

Given that there have been a year's worth of idents produced, I wonder if those ones were produced before it was decided to modify the logo.
If that is the case, and ITV told a load of artists to make "artistic" idents based on the ITV logo and the colours and shapes of the five segments it contains, and then changed the logo without telling them, and/or with too little time to amend the idents, that's absolutely farcical and doesn't give me any more hope for how it'll turn out.
Could this be an indication of the new surrounding presentation, a print version using the three coloured version of the logo as well and the slogan...
Erm..apologies for annoying commuters, but THIS has now happened 😂🙈 Cleaning Up starts on the 9th Jan @ITV 😘 pic.twitter.com/r79rTl4MrT

I did wonder if they’d changed the logo after the initial artists were briefed. I doubt though that they’ve got all 52 weeks’ worth of idents in the can yet.
So far they’ve just revealed the artists for the first 8 weeks, so it sounds like they’ll continue making them on a rolling basis throughout the year. Perhaps in a couple of months’ time we’ll see the designs using the simplified version of the logo.
The logo on the magazine and the billboard both have three segments, whilst some of the idents feature five segments. Maybe the idents that feature the old logo (the armchair concept and the balloon concept) were commissioned when ‘Project 52’ was first pitched? The paint powder and leaves concepts appear to use the new logo, so maybe it’s just the initial few idents that will use the old logo?
Remember the last refresh itv had - several continuity announcers were replaced with the changes. Dominic Green made his last announcement last night- just saying!
