ITV presentation refresh in the New Year

Back up a week and to page 15.

Me neither, although according to the Radio Times website, the local news is still called “UTV Live” on Jan 4th.

The UTV name as a channel name could be dumped and just replaced with ITV. The UTV Live news name can still continue, in the same way Granada, Meridian etc have kept their news names.

…and here we go again.

I was just answering someone's comment. Speculation is part and parcel of these forums.

Remember this is the internet where speculation quickly becomes "fact".

A reminder - we know ITV (channel 3/103) is getting new pres. We know the ITV Hub logo will be axed. That's all. Five more days until we see if anything else is changing. It seems like a likely possibility that UTV's name will be relegated to news, but we don't know that for sure.

There is also the (seemingly unlikely) possibility UTV will get a new ident set of it's own, unconnected to what ITV are doing.

Most likely though they"ll retain what they have, but as Project 52 is supposedly only running for a year by 2020 the rebrand may be on.

I suppose UTV could keep the current idents - they've not been used there for as long as in England and Wales - but use the rest of the surrounding pres ( ECP, trailers) rebadged. Would be pretty easy as long as the logo in that pres is CG and thus can be substituted (as opposed to actually being footage like the new ITV idents).

If that is the case, I’m sure they could easily add more of the old ITV idents into the UTV cycle giving them a cheaper update.

Well no matter what happens - the efforts to change the logo from an itv logo to a utv logo seem to be really faltering now. The local weather once again featured the itv logo but then there was a sting in and out of the weather with the utv logo.

Usually the utv logo appears on all 3 occasions. It's either a lack of effort or forgetfulness or they really are phasing out the utv logo. No matter what happens it's currently getting messy.

UTV have a sponsor for their movies, and yet that seems to have been dropped in favour of an ITV branded sponsor with a different company. If they are phasing out the UTV name it's odd they left it so late in the year and not started it a good few months in advance to really enforce the ITV brand before removal of the UTV one. Not a week or two prior like it seems to be now.
