Do we have to guess what it was?

It was a loop of the 3-layered cut-out logo.

For now, have this preview image for those who didn't get to see it animated.

Hmm... interesting. I’m more of a fan with the 2006 - 2013 idents. If I’m honest, I sort of liked the idea of the artists - although this does look like a sting to me. GMB is bound to change - since it has the departing ITV animation in the beginning. Could this be a hint of a return to an independent and dedicated News at Ten?

Well, it's not outside the realms of possibility, considering they seem to be adopting a more flexible policy around ITV branding. But it has been made clear that news will remain unchanged.

Which is good.
I don't mind the current news branding really.

I’m actually alright with this. As long as it retains some brand consistency (the DOG, stings and promos), I could see this working. 🤔😃

Will they slap the news logo into news and leave the rest unchanged so it works

I feel I'm in the minority where I think ITV News still feels really modem and fresh. The BBC on the other hand have pretty much been using derivations of the same BBC News look for around 20 years.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
The whole BBC needs an entire brand refresh really

I'd agree that ITV News looks fine. BBC News still looks good - but a change to titles and graphics would be nice. I'm not a fan of the titles variations introduced for BBC Newsroom Live and the like - they look like cheap variations of the main 2013 titles...and the music doesn't work well in some cases. When you start to muck about with a strong set of titles in the way that they have, it diminishes the strength and quality of the overall branding package.

I agree, ITV News still looks very good, I would prefer a little tweak to the newsroom backdrop. They could really make it look bit better, and less like an abandoned newsroom during the apocalypse. Otherwise, the set and design still looks great.
