Given the current UTV idents are only a couple of years old, my betting is on them continuing into next year.
The limited rotation of idents compared to on ITV does suggest that ITV doesn’t care that much about UTV’s presentation, so I’d be surprised if they make a big effort for them.
And it would have been strange to have branded up the new HQ in Belfast with UTV logos if they were planning to change the name to ITV so soon after.

So you think ITV Creative when they commissioned this new look for 2019 never asked for a UTV version too?

It’s entirely possible, if ITV didn’t think the extra cost was worth it, considering the existing UTV idents are fairly new.
But without being party to the brief, none of us will know either way until January.

It's no more strange than the ITV Cymru Wales branding used in the Cardiff building. There's been absolutely no mention of UTV in any of the press blurb. I'd say it's highly unlikely that similar designs based on the UTV logo have been created. If they considered it important enough to produce UTV-specific idents, they'd have considered it equally important to issue a press release, even if just to the local press, to brag about their investment in the local brand.
If NI viewers end up with ITV continuity/branding from 1st January, virtually none of them will care about the change. UTV would technically remain the regional brand - to be used for local output. The signage on their building remains relevant.

Yeah, if ITV News isn't changing it's graphics then the UTV name would still be used on the local news. It'd be the same deal as HTV, whose name remained on the news for a couple of years after the regional logos were axed from the idents. It only changed when the generic titles came in for local news in 2004.
As things stand, we only know that the main ITV channel and ITV Hub are rebranding.

I agree wholeheartedly. They might as well have used library music, or in some cases had no music at all.

Listening to them back-to-back, I have to concede there is a connection which I’d not picked up on until now. Thank you for enlightening me!
I still think it’s far too subtle and forgettable though, but then I think the idents as a whole are very bland and dull. Here’s to 2019.

Well, now that the video is private, I guess we'll have to wait a bit till we actually get to see DBLG's work for the new on-screen pres on New Year's Day.
