BBC Oneness - one photographer for two years and possibly more.
ITV - an artist every week for a year.
BBC One is going to have pull its finger out as just the short clips in the video already blow it out the water.

It's certainly a very different direction for ITV and some of the previews look really nice. It ought to be pushing some of the other broadcasters to up their game now too, which is always a good thing (and not just the BBC here - I'm definitely imagining 4Creative won't take ITV coming across as more artistic and creative than them lying down)! I also like how many keep launching these things as 'year long campaigns' now rather than claiming they plan them as long term replacements, so at least if they do make a mess they've already prepped a face-saving getout clause.
Though one thing this does do is make it look very unlikely UTV will be getting their own versions now, for all I hate to get into that whole overdone discussion again. Overlaying a simple logo onto fairly stock looking film is one thing. But physically having to film and create something tangible with two logos that have quite a lot of differences is probably a luxury expense too far. So either they're going to have to continue with the current set, or it'll be ITV all the way for them. Though what better way to cover that up than with a big PR piece about how they're giving budding young artists exposure!

Clever idea that the branding will be different every week. It’s going to fun for us all on here next year.
I’m curious about them labelling it as a year long project as to what will come after the year. As we’ve seen with BBC One, their year long project was simply extended. Though I imagine that we will miss ITVs more than BBC One’s idents.

Very interesting. I know UTV has been touched on here more than enough but all I'm saying is it puts a huge question mark about what they do with it. Hmm.

What a great idea, they look great too

So that's why it's called 'Project 52'!

Looks like a winner for best idents
of 2019.

Based on the preview, the idents looks very interesting indeed, can't wait to see it on screen, but it looks good so far.
Either UTV will be stuck with crappy bland idents for another year (and then change to ITV or take whatever ITV bring out for 2020) or UTV will be gone come January 1st and will only be used for the news.
I know which option I'd prefer.

That would look so odd on screen though, but I wouldn't totally put it past them. Both logos are on screen at once so viewers get used to seeing ITV more prominently before the UTV one disappears, but (based on the preview of the new look) the ITV logo will not always be in a position to allow a UTV logo to appear alongside it and might obscure the ITV logo itself which would add to the confusion/mess on screen.

There's a chance they'll use the new itv idents and show a smaller utv logo somewhere. On those weird weather adverts featuring local weather presenters they kept the itv logo featured and didn't change it to a utv logo.

The article says the new look will launch on January 1st. Really liking what we’ve seen so far, it’s a great concept. It does sounds quite expensive though, and will there only be a single ident for the entire week? Certain idents won’t be suitable before the news or serious programs, so it’ll be interesting to see how they approach that if there’s only one ident for the week.

I must be the only one to really dislike them then
But that possibly reflects my views on the channel too...
