The credits at the end of Happy Hour with Olly Murs were completely different to that.

There was no transparent background, and the font was completely different.

It looks a bit like DIN Condensed to me. I'm no typeface expert though.

I could also draw comparisons to Barlow, which is Network Ten’s new font.

Maybe Reem is no longer mandatory then?

Hope so.

Perhaps they will let programmes use whatever background and font they want, with the only stipulation being they must appear below the ‘line’ so promotional slides can fit on the top.

That really would be a treat after years and years of bland credits! Whether they use ITV Reem or not, it would be nice to see the soaps reintroduce staple images such as the Corrie cobbles/rooftops and overhead shots of the Emmerdale village.

I appreciate this wouldn't work with all programmes, but it would also be good to see a return to credits being shown as part of the programme (i.e. before it finishes), as happened with Happy Hour with Olly Murs, where they were shown over the final performance, which I'm assuming meant there was no ECP or voiceover.

I've never liked the way that certain programmes end, and then show the end credits over a black screen accompanied by the theme tune. For example, I preferred Harry Hill's TV Burp in the early years, when the end credits were shown over the end performance, rather than over a blue/black screen accompanied by the theme tune in later years.

With other shows, it would also be good to see a return to things which are normally shown at the end of the programme before the end credits (e.g. previews of the next episode, competitions, etc.) becoming part of the end credits again.

In this day and age of EPGs, catch up tv, etc., there is less of a need for things like end credit voiceovers and ECPs.

As a one off I could understand but two completely separate programmes sharing the same layout is quite curious.

If the plan is to go back to lower thirds then that’ll do nicely Thumbs up

Not sure if the same number of credits will fit as vertically though? Plus it’ll be interesting how they handle any programmes from the last decade.

Perfect for shows like I’m a Celeb though as it’ll give them an extra 30secs on the bridge/sweeping shots/etc. (I don’t think we often got any ECPs?)

*Anything* would seem like an improvement on plain, white-on-black end credit sequences - especially for Corrie and the 'Dale.

I don't mind the black screen with credits.

It's not something I would want to be jazzed up.

Most people are off to make a cuppa or do other things when credits come on screen.

Maybe true from the viewer’s point of view, but from the perspective of the broadcaster, the end credits are still seen as a switch-off/switch-over point when they need to do all they can to keep viewers from disappearing off to a rival, of which there are more now than ever before, both on air and online.

Don’t expect ECPs to be going away anytime soon.

I'm not saying ECPs should go any time soon, but I don't agree with the "one size fits all" regarding end credits, and hopefully ITV is now moving away from this.

Some programmes flow much better if they are allowed to continue while the end credits roll, where there is no ECP or voiceover. Happy Hour with Olly Murs which was shown the other day is a good example of this.

Strictly Come Dancing is another example of a show which uses this style of credits, which works well.

In Australia, most of the commercial networks have ditched traditional end credits more-or-less completely on most shows (Squeeze type ECPs are becoming rare). They often have a link to a web page with the full list of credits.

Seven tried something earlier in the year to build an event into the Winter Olympics:

Meanwhile on Canada's CTV & Global, how they deal with long film credits:
