ITV presentation refresh in the New Year

Unusual credits at the end of Alexander Armstrong on ITV then - coming up as lower thirds with a transparent background instead of the black title card

Olly Murs’ Happy Hour had lower third credits over a musical performance at the end of the programme on Saturday.

So why have they suddenly started breaking the guidelines then?

I would take a guess that it's the new credit style, or one of the new credit styles, that will be introduced as part of the 2019 refresh?

If you look at the reality shows on ITVBe, they tend to use quick lower third credits.

It was lower thirds, with 6 credits available (3 on one row, 3 below) with a semi-transparent black background underneath the credits and using Reem. Tried to screenshot on ITV Hub but you can’t do it.

It was different to any style seen before as the credits took up more vertical height, with 6 credits shown at once in a 3x2 formation. Double the amount shown below.

Also the credits themselves were left aligned, not centred.

If this was the new style, with programme imagery underneath and promotions appearing in the top two-thirds, I think it would be better than the all black style now as the credits would be ‘on brand’.

The lower third design, isn't quite new, as they were doing this over 10 years ago on Soaps and some other shows:

So it's back to 2007 for ITV in 2019, it seems in terms of credit styles

And the 6-at-once credits you might see more normally for drama/soap (apologies for poor quality)

The credits at the end of Happy Hour with Olly Murs were completely different to that.

There was no transparent background, and the font was completely different.

Maybe Reem is no longer mandatory then?
