ITV presentation refresh in the New Year

As others have said, it was the annual internal year summary - 'sexed up' by making it a GMB style live stream.




Yes, the main ITV identity is getting a slight tweak in the new year with a 'cut out' look, alongside 'project 52', which will see an ident refresh. Some of the preview clips look amazing. Think BBC2 Lambie-Nairn era...


ECPs are changing to a new 'layered' style, and promo material will now include programme branding alongside the respective ITV channel logo.

The ITV Hub logo is also being brought 'in line' with the rest of the ITV logo family (the 'Ferris wheel' identity is going).

Bizarrely, an ITV magazine is also launching on 27 Dec, to be distributed exclusively in Waitrose.

Project 52, eh?

A new ident launched each week of the year, maybe?

Or at least one new series launched each week next year..?

Is that a free magazine?

Presumably UTV will get a version of the new look also?

Hopefully they'll also sort out the (now) messed up consistency among their channels

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end for UTV. Are ITV News and the digital channels rebranding too, or is it just ITV and ITV Hub?

For someone who's big on branding, there's a rather curious reference to "ITV 1" at 11:02. Could it be that the January revamp will see the reintroduction of ITV 1 branding? I'll be very interested to see how UTV looks come January.

ITV News will probably get a slight refresh. The current look started in January 2013, so by January 2019 six years will have passed, and that is usually the norm for a refresh for ITV News presentation.

So it'll be like the 1998 logo which was cut up into blocks for the 2002 refresh?

Can’t wait! I think that the current look is very stale, and it will be nice to see a refresh after nearly 6 years.

6 years... wow! Time flies...

The 2013 revamp of ITV News was a great improvement in my opinion of their news presentation. I liked the newsroom backdrop and the desk areas, I would love to see if there is a refresh of their news presentation, and I think it is most certain there will be, as a new logo means usually new refresh, i would love to see News at Ten get its own dedicated look.
