Well, ITV1 through the night wasn't exactly exciting prior to ITV play taking over the slot. It tended to be a dumping ground for some shows with optional sign language and if we want to go back to the days of the 90s when they invested monies into getting new programmes on such as Gods Gift, Carnal Knowledge then I doubt that would happen as they would rather the money gets spent elsewhere.
Remember they said they know the public love interactive challenges. I'm surprised they haven't picked up on late night Poker which would be a potential money spinner for them.

You are a small indie making a show about something not mainstream. Back in the 80s and 90s the only place you would hope to get commissioned is 1am on ITV
Now instead you could get commissioned in the heart of prime time on dozens of digital channels and probably get a similar audience
