That's one of the reasons why prizes are "tax free", unlike in some countries where you win a car and find yourself with a hefty tax bill at the end of the year!
Re: the idea of enforcing a 20% cut to charity - not a fan of that myself as it's just passing the cost onto viewers.
I've always hated the way how all BBC reality shows, however unrelated to a cause they may be, have that compulsory contribution to whatever charity telethon is just around the corner - rather than giving 50% to charity why not just slash the prices by half!
