To me, it sounds like it's Fremantle pulling the plug on Quizmania - maybe it's nothing to do with ITV?

My thinking is that Quizmania switched channels a couple of times before it even made it to ITV, but this latest announcement seems pretty "final". Confused

Well, I think it's a case of Fremantle put all their eggs in one basket - and someone took the basket away!

I received this reply from ITVPlay about it''s future today.

This is to confirm ITV Play is not coming to an end. There are loads of changes to the schedule allowing for some great new shows in the new year, keep checking on ITV.com for the latest news of our shows.

Personally if I was in charge, I'd keep ITV Play (and indeed Quizmania) but change the broadcast hours to 6pm to 6am

This would allow it to share transponder space with CITV and let ITV4 go 24 hours

I agree, quite simply move puzzlebook to the evening, maybe even 7pm, maybe with a different name (though ideally I'd have kept Quizmania), until say midnight, and then have an alternative to ITV1, which would end up being simlecast of ITV1 after a few months anyway.

Then merge ITV4 with Men & Motors to make a better channel overall.

The only other idea would be to keep the name ITV Play, but turn it into a music channel, but there are enough of these already, though there's plenty of everything nowadays, perhaps there's too much choice nowadays.

Well, the Duty Office is hardly going to announce the closure of a channel to someone emailing in, before any official statement has been made. Not that I imagine it is going to close imminently.

Do you mean the one with the "lottery game" on it, if so you're right in regards to not giving away any money, every time I see it the most numbers people get are two

I've seen one person win the 4 ball prize of £100, out of quite a few draws. The chance of getting 4 balls is something like 1 in 2500, while the chance of getting 5 balls is like 1 in 50000. Now that they've removed the 3 ball bonus, the chance of getting any money back is pretty slim. (My math is rusty, so don't expect those figures to be 100% accurate.)

Yes, to be replaced by "The Glitter Ball" - same production company.
