According to quiztelly.com - ITV Play are axing all daytime shows (Puzzle Book and The Call).
I'm guessing Playalong will takeover, or ITV4 may be extended???

Thank god. TMPB/The Call have almost as little personality as Make Your Play.
I can see ITV Play working in a similar way to BBC Three, actually - starting at around 6 or 7pm and continuing until 6 or 7am. That way they're not missing out on the "drunk and quite happy to run up huge phonebills" audience.

Though it would mean a channel switching MUXs *IF* ITV Play was to start at 6pm it could time-share with CiTV on Freeview and allow for ITV4's hours to be extended.
I doubt that ITV Play would be dropped completely, as I believe overall it provides ITV with a much needed source of revenue. Though I imagine during the day there are fewer viewers/callers, particularly with the number of calls limit.
I imagine if the rumours/reports are true something will appear on Media Guardian or similar soon, or maybe we'll hear from Greggles.

Itv could always launch a news channel to fill the gap left by itv play. Or put men and motors of Freeview.

ITV News, along with regional names are dead and buried - although fondly remembered it would cost far too much for ITV to resurrect! Men and Motors, I feel, too only has a short lifespan left and could be easily merged into an extended ITV4 - so I fear, again, no chance of M&M going back to Freeview.

As I've been saying for a while I suspect the channel itself isn't that popular - it's the overnight ITV1 slot where the money is made!

ITV Play make the vast majority of their profits from the two late night ITV1 shows, so I can't see why ITV Play can't be quietly dropped from Sky and Freeview and replaced with something else.
