I think ITV should leave stuff like Playdate and let the "professionals" do their job over on channel 37.

I was up late the other night and caught about five minutes of this (Smile TV) and it just looked plain wrong, there was nothing special to it, just a dirty old man texting in telling people where to find him and aload of women trying their best to get dirty. Rolling Eyes

The other thing was is that they cut off the audio on this woman's first call and replaced with loop of music. Terrible waste of bandwith on freeview.

Someone at ITV really needs a kick up the arsé, whilst watching a couple of minutes of ITV Playalong this morning, a question came on screen, and it was..... (or near to)

"Which was one of the four original companies on ITV in 1956?

A. London Weekend Television
B. Meridian
C. Granada"

....now we all know that the answer is Granada, but the correct answer according to ITV Play was A, I was just flabbergasted, I don't envy the poor bugger who wasted 75p on a Text....

This channel's becoming a joke! They're now even doing the "How low will you bid?" game in the junctions between the main shows. £1.50 to text plus standard rate.

ITV Play was set up to make ITV some ££, how is the lowest bid game a joke? It's doing the exact same thing as everything else that broadcasts on the channel?

The question is flawed anyway, as ITV launched in September 1955, not 1956. Granada launched in 1956 though, LWT didn't arrive until the 1968 round.

Technically ITV launched at 7:15pm on a Friday in the London region, which in today's climate would class it as being the London Weekend service, but it wasn't the case at the time as it would be the daytime service, therefore the correct answer technically is Rediffusion.

They could get away with saying that though, as only London was on air in 1955, the other 3 original companies weren't on air until 1956.
