Give it a few years and I'm sure this cheap quiz show bubble will burst.

This thing on Men & Motors... the studio seems a big, well, good for a crappy quiz show on a relatively obscure channel. Is it the ITV Play studio I wonder? It's got a big screen and everything!

The thing on M&M is made by Big Game TV who also make the Hallmark Channel Quiz when they're not on air on their Sky Channel 849

Quiz Night Live on FTN have just had a caller phone up and correct them on a previous quiz saying that there is no such word as "DOST". The caller looked on the internet/dictionary and was quite adamant about it.

The host (now looking a bit concerned) on QNL tried to reason with the caller by saying that the word is true and they only "play by the rules" "nothing is made up". Rolling Eyes

They've just shown a trailer for ITV Play on ITV1. Anyone think this is a somewhat rushed channel that might end up backfiring on them.

Unfortunately not - as much as we slag these quiz channels off they are proven money making machines, and actually I think from a business point of view ITV Play seems a much more sensible proposition than ITV4 did.

Flaw #1: M&M is a 18-hour channel, ITV4 is a 12-hour channel (with much of the last 4 hours 2am-6am taken up by Time Life etc). So what's guna go? What's going to stay? How much of ITV4's lame-ass schedule will survive? Will we lose Champions, Randall&Hopkirk etc.?

Men & Motors is leaving Freeview to make room for it. Sad

Argh Mad I wish ITV would leave alone, where else on Freeview will I get; The Sweeney, Minder, Auf Wiedersen Pet, Magnum PI & Men Behaving Badly. The old man is a bit p*ssed off about that news.

I wish these stupid "phone up & spend £8 a minute" channels would p*ss off Twisted Evil

End of rant.

I hope ITV don't take M&M off Freeview, other wise it's a big mistake IMO, if you check BARB figures, ITV4 struggles to get about 100,000 viewers as their top rating, where as M&M's top rating is about 225,000 at the moment, plus M&M is cheaper to run as it's full of old ITV repeats and old US repeats, rather than the latest reject programme from American TV.

Though I'm fortunate enough to have NTL so I can carry on watching M&M regardless, though M&M is hardly top quality and hardly highbrow, it has some good entertainment on the channel, rather than endless shopping and gambling.

I wouldn't be suprised if ITV shutdown Men & Motors moving its content onto ITV4. That way they couldn't conveniantly get a Sky channel number ala how ITV 3 did.

www.itv.com/play is now up, some info about upcoming shows. Quizmania and Dare seem to be ending 31st March.

Quizmania isn't actually ending, it's just moving over to ITV2 to replace Dare.

Has Big Game TV ended? I notice most of their presenters have been shifted to other quiz channels.
