What's hard to understand? Is it so unbelievable that garbage has been canned?

That's nothing - garbage is usually canned..... then picked up every week by a bin lorry. Laughing

Shame we had to wait a whole year for QuizMania to be sent on it's way.

I take it this rumour is more than just somebody saying so on Digital Spy. Anyway, axed or not I don't expect it means an end to participation TV on overnight ITV, it's a linchpin of their schedule and revenue generating in a period when advertising isn't run.

As I understood it, ITV took exclusivity of QuizMania when ITV Play started, it used to have a home on a number of other satellite channels prior to that, so will probably still survive.

I've had a look on Digital Spy and there's nothing at all mentioned on there about Quizmania being axed. I reckon someone's just telling porkies again.

Happy 1st birthday to Quizmania, by the way... 1 year old today.

itv really went about the quiz channel thing really badly. They didn't seem to realise that having a shoddy quiz-channel under the itv name would make a dent in the perception of the brand. Channel 4 have got it off to a tee as there quiz-channel has no relation to themselves and to the unknowing public is just an other channel, not a money-maker for channel 4.

The best thing that itv could do would be to shut down itv play and relaunch it as a seperate brand, with nothing to do with itv.

Yet strangely, Quizmania doesn't start until 2.20am tonight!

Yeah... if you read Greggles's website, www.gregscott.tv , it says that it's not really going to be much of a birthday show tonight anyway, as they didn't start on ITV1 until November last year.... Rolling Eyes

It's a tricky one. If you were Joe Public and were thinking of actually participating in one of these things, would you go for the channel you've never heard of with a presenter you've never seen before, or the channel with a well known brand behind it with someone you recognise (so long as you have actually seen Paul Hendy before!).

I for one, would go for the one with the brand behind it. Mainly due to the element of trust. Obviously the chances of getting through to either channel would be as slim as each other, so it wouldn't particularly affect my chances of winning whichever one I dialled.

Problem is, having their name behind it is also distroying the image of the other channels in its family.

I thought The Mint and was supposed to be for 18 plus?
Last night they read two e-mails out from two 15 year olds and one from a 12 year old. It seems that the Mint is only watched by school children.

Could you not establish that from the QuizTelly forum?

I see there is a new game on ITV Playalong in which asteroids come towards a target and you have to text in an angle to try and blow them up!

As for the new line up - it was irritating they branded a programme from 12-3pm as "This Morning" without moving it later!!! Rovers Return Pub Quiz in the middle of the afternoon seems wrong too!

I've said it before, but the Common Room isn't a patch on the School Run! It was quite funny the other night though when talking about School Reunions but they weren't allowed to refer to Friends Reunited as they sponsor them!

And aren't they wasting money there a bit with one show more than they need - if they start at 1pm they could have shows from 1-4pm and 4-7pm, with Quizmania from 7pm-1am and The Mint fron 1am!

Also, regarding the branding debate - I think ITV have got away with it actually as general opinion seems to be ITV Play are on the whole quite good at what they do. In it's current form though C4 are completly right to disown Quizcall, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if in the future it's rebranded to something like Q4!
