But actually a lot better than the rest of the programming (with the exception of QuizMania) on the channel. The amount of detail that's gone into the ITV Playalong portion is quite good, even if it is a third party job. Plus you can usually see the answer coming a mile off, which isn't always possible on the other stuff.

The Mint is plugging Love Island like mad at the moment. Kat and Cat are both discussing it as if they've been watching it non-stop, in the hope that viewers will tune in.
Another 'ITV is pathetic' moment.
Greggles I loved the reappearance of Barrington Farquharson on Quizmania last night

I agree - why did ITV get rid of Men and Motors for this
CRAAP
. I was being polite earlier because I thought everyone in this forum loved it. ITV have always been a lot less proffesional than the beeb - Men and Motors was one of the only good channels. When they brought out ITV 2,3,4, play, and CITV they were only trying to cach up with the BBC who have 8 good channels. It's just a shame that BBC3+4 only broadcast 7pm-7am

Depends on your definition of 'good'. ITV2 is the most popular digital channel, and ITV3 regularly ranks top 5.
ITV Play is about additional sources of revenue, as is Channel 4's Quiz Call, Five's overnight syndication of "Great Big British Quiz", Hallmarks daytime quiz, overnight music channel quizzes, etc. Whereas the BBC can almost guarantee a year on year inflation busting licence increase, hundreds of commercial channels are scrambling over the same increasingly smaller slice of advertising. It's the price of progress in the digital age.
There is no reason imaginable why BBC would ever need or want to enter the Quiz / Gaming genre so lets not compare apples to potatoes.

Hurray someone with a sensible comment. I'm starting to think some of the complainers on this thread are the types who take scenic walks down the local tip.
Just be thankful you don't have to directly pay for ITV or Channel 4 or Channel 5 - and be done with it. There's a niché for these channels, just like there is for God TV on Sky etc.
I assume most of everyone's anger on here are not just aimed at the channels, but mainly at their chav next door neighbours, who are stupid enough not to read the small print on these channels - the telephone call is a contract.
Similarly, lets not having ITV facing all the wrath - it was the success of Channel 4's 24 hour quiz offering that made ITV move so fast in creating Play.

I don't mind ITV having a quiz channel, but the problem is, I am sick of hearing about it on ITV1.

The little scruffy old guy who lives on his own at the end of my road, rang up The Mint to try and get through several times and ended up spending £65! Scandalous.
Right now its 'Add The Numbers' - Possible Win: £30k. Arrrgh! They're not wanting to give money away tonight then. Yawn.
