Saw The Mint for the first time last night. Opening question was 'Name a picture playing card', and that was it, there were no wrong answers, just the first 5 people. Where's the entertainment in that?
Their big problem is that the concept is as a high market game show with a smart set, smart clothing and tasteful graphics... but have totally forgotten to provide anything entertaining or fun.

No...its not 'big budget entertainment' but they've put some thought into it - i.e. friendly viewer participation with emails, talking to the crew, stories etc...It doesn't jump down your throat constantly begging for your call every second.
Unfortunately there is a lower budget on ITV2 hence ad-breaks and lower cash prizes. Shame. Putting Quizmania on ITV2 is like having an expensive Ferrari car then completely gutting the interior and replacing the engine for that of a Lada!

What's it going to replace, not Men & Motors still is it
Unfortunately that's still the plan, theres a promo running on Men & Motors telling viewers where to find it, with the new Sky EPG Number and the NTL and Telewest channel numbers, no sign of Freeview Ch35 anywhere!
I'm personally glad I've got NTL......though it's going to be a loss to Freeview.

The ITV Play idents are really nice. If you have NTL then you can go to channel 952, I don't know what the number is for Sky.
But if you don't have Sky or NTL then you can probably see the idents on ITV2.

The Mint is just lame. I can see what they're trying to do, by jazzing up the whole phone-in thing, but they've forgotten all the things that made QM watchable... the characters made QM, like Greggles, Flash, Debbie and the rest, but these guys are just bland and drum up no tension or interest whatsoever. QM was addictive, I could never sleep until I knew the answers to the quizzes. I couldn't care less about the ones on The Mint though.

I think the one big mistake ITV are making is branding it with their own name and logo as sooner or later people are going to realise what a con these channel's are and there will be a big backlash, at least Channel 4 had the sense to just call their channel 'Quiz Call', how many non-media savvy people would even realise that its a Channel 4 channel?
