Press Release

Yep, a whole channel of quiz action is now winging its way to Freeview Rolling Eyes

Thoughts?

A shame, as the space could probably be put to much better use.

I'd much prefer to see another general entertainment channel go FTA.

It does seem quite a waste of the limited DTT capacity. At least C4's +1 channels are merely placeholders for something useful (ie FilmFour).

Even a niche entertainment channel would be better than this. Rolling Eyes

Media Guardian are reporting that this will go into the Men and Motors slot on Freeview and M&M will become a DSat and DCable channel only.

I think that it is more likely that Men and Motors will close, and the content will be absorbed into itv 4 schedual. It is widely known that the channel was losing money just being on Cable and Sattelite, and since its promotion to Freeview, viewing figures habe increased dramatically. Plus itv 4 is losing money.

So with ITV getting on the interactive quiz bandwagon, how about UKTV launch a gaming channel and call it UKTV Play! It makes sence!

Not unexpected at all - this channel has been rumoured for a long while and I said in the weeks running up to the closure of the ITV News Channel that although ITV wouldn't remove Men and Motors for the NC, they wouldn't hesitate for a quiz channel.

A shame. M&M is one of the few channels on Freeview I watch.

I quite like it - although I'm not convinced the bent 'p' works.

Aye, it'll make a terrible mess on your toilet floor.

So what of Quizmania, will that be incorporated into 'ITV Play' or exist as a separate entity on it's own ?
