It makes bugger all difference at the end of the day, the brands were dropped yonks ago, the Channel ID's on Analogue transmissions survived a bit longer (for us we used to have 'Granada Television' on the bottom black bar, now we have 'itv1'), but not at all surprising.

It just makes more sense I suppose, rather than having ITV1 branding, ITV (Region) providing the programmes and the original name still being used for legal reasons. Although they are using the term ITV Broadcasting alot more now.

Note the missing franchise from that list - Anglia, which is the one that got renamed to produce ITV Broadcasting Ltd.

I agree- I don't see why some people are so intent on attempting to cling onto the old names for ITV.

I'm more curious as to why that 'Calender News Xtra' licence was still sitting on there... Shocked

To be brutally honest, it would have been for the best if the regional names had been withdrawn from use completely following the launch of national continuity. Instead, we have seen them dragged through the mud over the past 6 years.

Mention the Tyne Tees (or any other franchisee's) name now and all I can think of is the deterioration of the station since 2002 rather than the good times of the past.

As said, this makes bugger all difference. The brands are dead, time to move on.

I'm assuming that's for the Kingston Communications on demand type service

I can't believe Ofcom are unable to spell "Calendar". Unless of course the licence is named "Calender". Nothing surprises me really.

You might as well rename ITV now because it is no longer Independent Television. How about NTV - National Television - seeing as the legacy of ITV being of quality service is dead.
