Well, the ITV London Area is stilll running two discs. One from LWT at weekends and only played on the three nights and the other on the remaining four weekday nights from Carlton. So there still appears to be some regional policy as far as London is concerned.
The weekend disc runs for 65 minutes and has many chillout tracks, a lot of them female vocal. I caught one male rapping track too.
The weekday disc only runs for 40 minutes and is a mixture of chillout, semi-classical, upbeat numbers and twangy guitars.
But all the tracks on this disc are instrumental.
One of the chillout tracks can be easily described as someone pressing the button twice in line with the beat on a can of hairspray to produce that spray sound accompanied by a meandering chillout piano and brrrr sound of a telephone in the background! This track is then followed by a semi-classical solo piano track. Hope that gives enough description to see if this disc is being used in any other region at the moment.
