Well, the ITV London Area is stilll running two discs. One from LWT at weekends and only played on the three nights and the other on the remaining four weekday nights from Carlton. So there still appears to be some regional policy as far as London is concerned.
The weekend disc runs for 65 minutes and has many chillout tracks, a lot of them female vocal. I caught one male rapping track too.
The weekday disc only runs for 40 minutes and is a mixture of chillout, semi-classical, upbeat numbers and twangy guitars.
But all the tracks on this disc are instrumental.
One of the chillout tracks can be easily described as someone pressing the button twice in line with the beat on a can of hairspray to produce that spray sound accompanied by a meandering chillout piano and brrrr sound of a telephone in the background! This track is then followed by a semi-classical solo piano track. Hope that gives enough description to see if this disc is being used in any other region at the moment.

SMG has a strange set-up where if you listen for long enough you'll hear the weather music and the theme tune to an old political show, I'm sure it was Crossfire.

I really don't get why each ITV station has different music though.

Maybe it's to test the regional infrastructure or something, it is weird though, ITV Nightscreen.

ITV Nightscreen on Yorkshire Tyne Tees has had the same music for years, at least last time I checked which was last year

Last time I watched S***escreen this is what I noted:

Westcountry, Central, HTV Wales, HTV West and London were using the same music.

Scottish and Grampian were using the same music.

Channel, Meridian (S and E) and Anglia were using the same music.

Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, Border and Border Scotland were all using the same music.

Which left UTV as the only region to use its own music...

I have a feeling this was on a weekday. I didn't realise London had different music at the weekends. Has this always been the case?

Oh and btw... are they still using that track with the moaning woman SFX in the ex-Carlton areas?

And the old YTV music is back again.

Seriously, what is the point of ITV Nightscreen? Surely, if ITV want to do something similar to this, why don't they get a presenter in and read it all themselves. Without the music.

Because that would cost money, perhaps Smile
