Does anyone know why ITV still show Nightscreen through the night? How long has it been around for? and what software is or was used to make the service?
It is shown through the night as it is officially a regional programme which bumps up the regional minutes. I understand it is nothing more than a powerpoint slideshow.

According to Wikipedia, it's something called Scala5.
Yes, I saw the wikipedia page afterwards, looks as though I was incorrect on the powerpoint line. It was how jobfinder used to work and I'd been told previously that nightscreen was set up on the same basis.
Re: regional minutage, that is the reason for the music being different in each region. Officially, each region's nightscreen is acquired individually and music sourced accordingly.

Wow I had no idea. I just thought Ofcom had simply allowed them to cut regional stuff down to simply news and that monthly current affairs show.

Do they still do that though?
They did last time I saw it which wasn't too long ago.
