Do you think someone could reprogram the swearword nanny to stop censoring the title night watch when typed without the space in the middle?

I don't think it is regional TVM.

if that is the case - showing what is essentially a central/westcountry regional programme on the network late at night seems strange! are there still quotas requiring network to show a certain number of hours from outside london? (although with ytv and granada still active, you'd think that target would be pretty easy to reach)

I'm not really sure why you think it is so odd. Crimefighters is a programme that could be shown anywhere regardless of the region. The real thing I find strange is that they have gone to the effort of repackaging this in such an odd way.

It's like someone said - let's repackage Crimefighters for the overnight schedule, then not had a clue of how to do it. No doubt it will end up as an essential part of the ITV4 schedule probably running alongside the original Cimefighters programmes.

I thought that too. It appears some regions (STV, UTV, Wales, even London one night) are not showing the full length of the programme on some nights, joining it half way through.

Wales often did that with ITV Play as they have more regional programmes than the English regions.

I know, that's what I figured.

For example tonight, it starts at 1:45 but STV and ITV1 London don't join it until 2:35, so presumably there is a convenient junction around then.

I noticed that from Saturday, the programme is billed as "Nightwatch with Steve Scott".

It's actually two editions back to back, which they're just billing as one. Each edition is a standard hour length show in 4 parts but runs shorter due to the lack of ads. Whenever a region joins "midway" they're coming in at the start of a new edition.

i guess the part i find most strange is that a franchise such as central, which has been demoted to regional output only, is now producing a show for network. in bbc terms it would be like bbc east suddenly making a whole series of programmes for bbc one network.

you'd have thought that itv plc would have some kind of national in-house documentary & contemporary factual dept, or similar, which would be the team more likely to pitch and produce such a show.

from the couple of editions i have seen it seems the production teams include staff from central news and westcountry live.

i'm not arguing that its a bad idea, certainly preferable to the quiz shows and nice to see output from birmingham again.

Now I've seen the programme I can't understand why Central News East had to leave the studio. All they've done is change the lighting, no set changes at all. They could have recorded it between bulletins

It;s Central, Central East have vacated their studio for this production.
