Nobody seems to have noticed that there was no ITV News Summary at 3pm just then on ITV1.

Most regions seemed to deal with it smoothly by extending their local news, Kevin on Puffin's Pla(i)ce pointed out that Channel News was longer than usual and this was because 'ITV dropped their news'

Most regions that is, except UTV, who seemed to leave their generic 'UTV' logo on screen for the full 90 seconds and started UTV Live News at the normal time!

Confused No 3pm news? That's odd. Maybe they're planning a new look for the 6.30pm news - is the ITV News Channel in a temp studio? Otherwise, I'm baffled.

Don't be so ridiculous. It's more likely to be a technical problem with the CSO studio. The News Channel is carrying on as normal in the main studio.

...because don't forget, Five News has taken over the studio ITV news usually does the CSOs from. Something to do with that not being properly set up yet, I'd guess.

If that was that case, surely they'd just simulcast the News Summary on the ITV News Channel, and put the breakfiller up whilst presenters changed?

This might have something to do with the the ITV News temp studio, as Five News is using the ITV News temp studio for three weeks it may have caused teething problems for CSO in the temp ITV News studio.

We got an email stating that the 1500 ITV summary was being dropped, and one and a half minutes is being added to the Lunchtime News. Whether this is permanent was not mentioned.

Is this a permanent fixture then ? And for what reason ?

What.... and one region (guess whose) didn't pick up on this?!! Dear oh dear oh dear... Rolling Eyes

On UTV we got their ident still - a few seconds of an "ITV1 Back Soon" still - then back to the UTV still again. Watching that, I thought it was a technical fault in London!

Well, on one hand it was only a short summary, there was no in depth analysis or interviews or major reports, so it won't be hugely missed, though on saying that it is useful to have a quick update in the middle of the two programmes: Evening & Lunchtime. Though as more and more people switch to digital TV they can have the News Channel on.

On this subject, what is the point of the Morning News? Does it attract large audiences or is it just to fill some time and prepare for the News Channels morning reports? I notice it goes out seven days a week at 5.30am, doe sit have live reports from ITV News reporters (like Nick Robinson, Tim Ewart, Bill Neely etc) or is it unknows?

Cheers
