Itv News Channel Off Freeview Until 2005

If you go onto channel 41 on freeview the following message appears:
The ITV News channel is undergoing engineering work on Freeview and will be back on Ch41 in early 2005. If you require more information please call, 0870 242 6685

It depends on your region. The London region will not loose ITV News Channel, other regions still have it at present even though they may loose it later on.

Although (for whatever reason) it has since changed to the version shown in SteveL's message.

Why they've done that, I dunno. I think the version in my screengrab looks neater and better.

I think it almost certainly has something to do with itv 3 launching. I'm also getting the message.

ITV are reducing the resolution of the picture on the other channels on their multiplex in order to fit in ITV3. The only place the new compression kit has been installed is at Crystal Palace, which is why London viewers will not lose the ITV News Channel.

and lets face it, who else matters.

who watches the itv news channel anyway? i would prefer CNN on dtt. i feel like the unlucky people because we still get it.
