Owen has just welcomed viewers back to the News Channel, which is "coming from the newsroom for the foreseeable future"

Well that didn't last long - Owen is back in the studio now.

Phil Gayle and Joyce Ohajah worked well together from 4pm this afternoon. Returning from a break Phil started with 'NOW LETS ROUND UP SOME SPORT Oh and welcome back by the way'. Joyce seemed to find this hilarious.

Anyone got a grab of owen in the news room - or is it the normal news room shot? Are the problems to do with the new cso...?

It was the usual newsroom camera position. It looks like they have an autocue set up there though.

They seem to be very inconsistent in their use of the new CSO - sometimes they use all the full-screen graphics for finance, weather, sport, coming up etc and sometimes they don't

And they don't seem to be using the newswall shot for interviews this week

I did catch Owen in the newsroom for 15 minutes but then he was back in the normal studio soon after! I wonder what happened there?

Here's a few grabs from today's coverage from Athens :-

Also Felicity Barr has been reporting from Athens all day with some great information on the ITV News Channel :-

Also, how often do ITV call on CNN colleagues to present reports?

If they have an autocue set up in the newsroom, why don't they present short weekday and weekend bulletins from there? It would look a lot better than the plain blue background with the moving squares.

Because that would look ****. They have an all-singing, all-dancing set which cost millions. Why go back to an 80's studio backdrop?
On an olympics point, only the newschannel carried live the torch coming into Athens. Owen Thomas was excellent commentating.... he's just getting better and better. And Felicty Barr in Athens was better than anything on the Beeb or Sky.

I agree - I flicked around trying to find the other news channels coverage of the torch but no-one apart from ITV NC was actually showing it! Owen was very good and adlibbed his way through a fair chunk of coverage before handing over to Felicity Barr and showing some reports about the olympics.
I also like the olympic symbol they got in the news ticker aswell - thats pretty cool! The last logo I can remember was the shape of the Concorde on the say of it's last flight!

PS what happened since the two bombs (alledgelly) went off in North Spain? Not much has been mentioned since?

I agree with television. They could put a few ITV News generic colours into the background of the newsroom and it would look good. Besides, why do they have to continually present from their "theatre of news" studio even if is is all singing and all dancing?? A few years ago, ITN had different studios for the various national bulletins and Sky very effectively integrate their newsroom into their morning bulletins!!

Looks like the IBM sponsorship of the market report has come to an end
