Ain't it about time they got a duplicate set?

Bl***y silly having to swop from studio to studio, 'cos of flipping ITV 1 !

It wouldn't really be a problem if the time in the CSO was limited, maybe soon it will go back to just an hour before each bulletin, it therefore wouldn't be worth having a second big studio for just three hours maximum

As long as they do. I expect they will continue with long rehersals, and especially as they are having to make special reports in the same studio on the same set as they don't have a CSO/VR studio any longer, it means more time is required.

A second set isn't a bad thing as could also be used for other shows, such as Angela Rippon's show!

They could just make a simple version of the current set that wouldn't cost a million, just using replica desk and stage with a simple green curtain, and simple CSO. So no rear projection behind, and no software that change the view of whats on the CSO depending on what camera angle is used.
So it would basically use the floating squares, and then someone would change the graphics everynow and then to suit the camera angle. Like they couldn't use any zooms or movement, as the graphics would follow the movement, it would be like the presenter was chasing them!

But it would be something a bit better than having one person on a single shot with one angle. Even Central News can manage two angles! And especially for capturing audience in their supposedly busy time of 5pm!

Well it all went a bit pear shaped on the News Channel just then.

Owen's recorded bulletin finished at 12.50pm. There then followed about three minutes of breakfiller, then 2 or 3 ITV1 trailers and then the ads. After the ads about 4 or 5 more trailers including some we'd seen before the ads

Now at 1am Owen's summary is only about 1 and a half mins long, I'm sure its usually longer than that

That's because the new 10.30 bulletin is so long - even if they don't run any ads in the middle, it only leaves a couple of minutes to fit the summary plus 10.30 repeat cleanly into a half-hour slot.

At weekends when a News Channel bulletin is replayed, then the summary is up to 5 mins long.

As you've said, it would better if Owen recorded one hour with it being replayed rather than what we have now.

Impressive four-way Zimbabwe feature on the NC this morning - Henry Olonga and the travel editor of the Telegraph in the studio with Alastair, John Bercow in the Westminster studio and Neil Connery on a videophone from South Africa.

I saw a few problems with the virtual reality set this morning. I know they are bound to have problems, and I am sure it may have already happenned... This morning during "Live with Alastair Stewart", there was an interview with Michael Portillo, and in the middle of responding to a question he turned several shades of pink and red before almost disappearing into the background! Obviously they quickly cut to another camera, and a few seconds later everything seemed ok. The time is bound to come when something similar happens on a main ITV1 news!

So any news on the lineup today, then?

I feel its a shame that the ITV News relaunch thread has been closed ALREADY.

I see that the BBC News 24 thread has also JUST been closed even though the news 24 rebrand was a while back now whereas the ITV News rebrand is only just a week old and still rebrand issues will arise!

Why has the ITV News rebrand thread been closed only after a week whereas the BBC News rebrand thread was allowed to stay for 2 months!

This does really stink of the BBC Brigade taking over again!

My suggestion I'm afraid. The ITV News thread had 50+ pages of great discussion on the relaunch and it's implications, but over the last couple of days has turned into a day-to-day discussion thread of the ITV News Channel. Therefore, I suggested to Asa that it might be an idea to close the thread at it's peak. I also noticed that the News 24 thread was still doing the rounds, so pointed that out as well, and it appears that the mods agreed.

I've been out since 10.30, but I've just got in and it's Steve Scott and Felicity Barr at the moment. Lots of good banter - they work well together.

From 4 it's Felicity on her own again

Nice to see Grampian's North Tonight featured on UK Today, with its non-corporate set!

It's been a week and a half, now hasn't it? I can see this being a regular thing unfortunately. Sad

And despite what the EPG says, Chris Rogers has just appeared in the CSO at 4 o'clock

The schedule does seem to be fairly random at the moment
