The reason for such a cr*p identity is because ITV doesn't have an identity.
Sum up ITV in a couple of words? Trash and soaps? That's the problem.
These are almost the same as they have now, I can't believe its taken all this time to come up with.
I have found it amusing in recent weeks that - in terms of both the ITV and BBC World rebrands - it has been the newer members who have been working themselves up into a frenzy about all these new idents and studios/sets. Those of us who are experienced pres fans and have been around the block a few times are much more relaxed - after all, we've been through many a relaunch in which we've built our hopes up only to have them dashed. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but I for one am not expecting to be blown away.
Quite happy there's a new generation of pres fans (that probably get nostalgic over the ITV heart idents).
To be honest, I get nostalgic over the 2006 package!

They were nice, and I quite liked all the ITV packages until the current one. The new one looks absolutely rubbish IMHO, but that's based on one ident.

Lets be honest, IF ITV had been controlled by proper old school companies and producers instead of publishing companies we could have ended up with high class ITV with decent Press, run by the likes of LWT, Central, STV, but its not, its very unlikely we will ever get it back since ITV has pulled everyone else down with them

It's true. I get nostalgic about the Carlton idents from 1999-2002... I'm 16. It's the earliest I can remember, along with a vague memory of the BBC one balloon.
I should probably get a life before it's too late.
I know its seems quite fashionable to slag off the current network branding, but I have to say, some of it works really well in my opinion, and I'll be sorry to see it go, especially if the new branding is as bad as it seems.
Trying hard to resist given it's only one ident and not yet onscreen......but seriously?
Was nothing learnt from 2006?
It doesn't matter whether it's a dog getting a bath, kids rolling down a hill or pigs in mud, ultimately it's just a logo slapped over some random live action clip. It's lazy. And the camouflage logo is just odd. C4's is clever because it's a split second reveal within the action. There's nothing clever about a logo that fades in then blends in so much that you have to squint to see it.
Maybe I'm just old school, hoping for something bright and vibrant that hits you around the head and shouts "you're watching ITV and are about to be entertained". Instead we're getting more cheap idents with a thinly guised theme running through them.
Its very sweet. I like it. I mean, I don't watch much of the channel, but this seems to not take itself very seriously and it quite charming. Its difficult not to smile at that daft dogs face.
The fact that it's named as a pun of a famous TV cartoon of yesteryear is nice, but probably accidental (judging by the name Ballerina which has been mentioned). Might have been good if they'd followed that through as a theme - "golden shot", "cross roads" - that kind of thing.
That new ident makes the current ones look high brow. An incredible feat in some ways.
ITV is not high brow, which is why they want to change their branding to suit their output. It does seem to suit my impression of ITV so I guess it will achieve their aims IMO. But ITV is not a channel I ever really watch, last thing was Law & Order UK, and I will probably just download it in future.
Out of all the packages ITV1 has had since 2002, it's still the case in my eyes that the Celeb idents were the best suited to the look of the channel, at least you knew what they were getting at, without any marketing guff.
