For those not flicking through the regional threads a shot of the Calendar presenters in front of their new "news wall"

P.S. As far as we know is this revamp all being done in house?

ITV Wales newsroom bulletins have a look of ITN's bulletins in the early 90s.

No that continuity announcer is far too butch to be Andrew Hayden Smith!

He is shouting somewhat and distortion of sound

Speaking of continuity announcers, Mark Manchester tweeted this today on his last day, what looks to be the ITV1 playout for this afternoon.

The only thing that doesn't make much sense there is that the ad break between Dickinson's Real Deal and Tipping Point was in two parts with a trailer in the middle. Is that the case, unless anyone can read anything more into that?

Interesting that the 'black' gets scheduled in.

EDIT: Actually that's probably the Regional Weather, as that still appears just before 4pm doesn't it?

Yes, presumably that's for UTV/STV/TV3 opt ins and aspect ratio changes? It's probably the easiest way to reliably add a second of black before programmes, it might well be that there are triggers in the black event for something as well

New Year's Day I set my HDD/DVD recorder to record most ITV1 programme junctions Monday to Friday, and thus now from 2 Jan to 11 Jan 2013 I have an awful lot of stuff to sort through.

Out of what I've sorted so far, I've managed to get the following ITV1 idents on video that way:

(Urban) Basketball
Beach
Bicycle
Bubbles
Buildings
Dodgems
Garden
Market
Pavement Art
Snakes and Ladders
Sunflowers

Some I've got more than once. It seems some, particularly Snakes and Ladders, are shown more often than others.

I've still not sorted through all I've recorded but so far it appears I've not yet got

Fountains
Boat (Lake)
Lanterns

Do those idents still get shown on ITV1?

Didn't ITV have to drop the laterns ident because it raised a Health and Safety issue becuase the number of laterns being let off increased due to this ident?

Pretty sure that Fountains and Boat were dropped with the 2010 update, and Lanterns which was introduced at that point is indeed now banned.

Not quite, it was part of a more general campaign against chinese lanterns by farmers - there were lots of cases of them landing in fields and setting fire to them. I don't think the ident directly led to an increase in lanterns, but the NFU didn't want anyone encouraged to use them

Read on DS forums that ITV have ditched and replaced nearly all of its continuity announcers.

This is all really thorough which I'm liking.

Little details like the mess of a website being butchered/reorganised ahead of the launch etc are making it all seem very thought through.

Changing the lot across broadcast, web, print, buildings is a massive undertaking. (By the way are the new logos visible anywhere on the various buildings yet ?)
I've heard the facilities people in the South Bank are very busy this weekend. They're even changing the internal building signage, and took all the old stuff down last week (which has made it a bit tricky to find your way around...)
