To be honest, I'd prefer ITV keeping a more traditional-style weather forecast. The BBC's weren't exactly universally loved and accepted by all in 2005 and they're still not widely loved, despite what our opinions are on here (and I like them!)
I do agree that ITV's weather graphics need updating though - not drastically, but just enough to make everything more cohesive. Some of the graphics they wheel out are designed with the 2004-2006 era ITV font.
The current weather maps are older then the outgoing logo! In 2006, all they did was change the typeface, update the logo, and remove the regional names. So I agree, they NEED to be updated. The BBC weather maps introduced a few months after ITV's in 2005 put them to shame.
I'm sure the BBC launch theirs first as ITV were making a big deal of their simplicity in response to the initial complaints about the BBC's being too complicated.
I would not be surprised if there wasn't a feature in MediaGuardian on Friday revealing lots of stuff, probably a clip of what they say is an ident or titles for the news, which everyone gets angry about, and then turns out to be something else.
This has happened before. I think it happened ahead of the News at Ten relaunch. Nobody knows anything one day, then suddenly almost the entire 'surprise' is revealed.

Ah the cycle of life on TVF.

Do we have an actual date for the new logo to come on screen?
Yeah, how often do five channels relaunch on the same day? Both Sky and the BBC always stagger them, even though in Sky's case, a corporate logo change was involved.
