However when ITV brought back News at Ten, with its distinctive look and the skyline virtual studio, I did like it, and felt it should have been extended to the other bulletins, with different times of day reflected.

Yes, ITV felt the same way and actually did it. Laughing

It was quite a breathtaking look for News at Ten, but appeared very lacklustre on the earlier bulletins. The daytime version just didn't work as well as the darker one.

ITV News will use a Midnight Blue colour scheme.

Well I do hope that different shades of blue will be used in the studio depending on each programme, otherwise it will just feel too dark for the earlier bulletins. Quite looking forward to seeing what they've come up with. Just over a week to go... Smile

Looks like the regional identities (whether or not they'll be seen on screen) will have the region names left-aligned below the logo:

from another planning application - see also Tyne Tees

That looks a bit stupid surely it would be better centre aligned?

and surely using the new font and not Calibri? Better that they will use white and not black on the former Calendar building, but why black on the Tyne Tees building?

Different brick colours? I think Yorkshire was black on their building and it was quite difficult to read.

From a distance the black is difficult to read so white may have been better for TT.

Left aligned will ensure that even if the region name should be wider than the logo, it will not feel out of place. Assuming the logo will be left aligned on screen, it will also avoid the alignment being messed up

Well yes the studio and skyline was brought over, but not the titles for the bulletins/

I can't help but feel that the region name needs to be bigger than how it is on those planning applications - but I guess that's exactly the opposite of what ITV wants. I'm just glad the "Yorkshire" text is going to be white on the YTV buildings, I've driven past Kirkstall Road in the evening and noticed that only the ITV logo is illuminated. The current "Yorkshire" text is black and just fades into the brown brickwork.

Well the NAT titles apparently cost them around £100,000 so I couldn't see them wanting to fork out even more for two or three different versions of it, more so when you consider they never re-edited the titles to show the clock at 11pm for the shortlived Friday Late News. Extending the titles to other bulletins wouldn't have made much sense either, the titles were so strongly associated with NAT that using them at 1:30pm/6:30pm would have looked strange to say the least.

Surely no region name is wider than the logo? Awful alignment, and it's going to make Wales even more tacked onto the idents than ever.

Perfect example of branding being designed with 'insert region here' in mind rather than how good it'll look in practice.

Was going to say I doubt we will get a "itv GRANADA" sign in quay street, but Thinking about it they might not even bother changing the itv blue signs around the building now.
