Not long now hopefully and to be honest, it's ITV News that I'm most looking forward to seeing. It would be nice if the Big Ben clock face came back. I hope the bongs are retained for the headlines.
I think so too! It's the iconic 'symbol' of ITV News.
They should bring back the old theme too
Why not wind everything back 20 years to 1993, call the news service ITN, and give the channel back all the regional names.
No. That would all be meaninglessly retro: like removing the numeral from your main channel and thinking it will make the slightest bit of difference.
ha ha could even bring back a few shows like Surprise Surprise, and maybe even catchphrase
As we approach the new look ITV, I thought that I'd drop in a term that my aunty said the other day "we watched poirot on ITV's red channel". I suppose something like that shows how much colouring can affect a channel's brand too.

To be honest I wish they would still use the ITN name for the news, rather than ITV News. ITN seemed to have more gravitas whereas ITV News, although same team, just seems to give out a more laissez-faire attitude. I would also like to see News At Ten re-instated as primarily a different, but more prestigous, news programme to the rest of the bulletins on ITV.
Regional names are all but gone, only a few still used for the regional news, although I can see them going soon - such as Granada Reports/News becoming North West Reports/News - that doesn't bother me, to be fair, as regional TV died when Granada "took over" Carlton and the disaster that was Charles Allen.

I don't think that would happen simply because too many ITV regional programmes would sound very similar to their BBC equivalent and they'd have probably done it by now anyway.
I think you make get programmes rebranded as 'ITV News Midlands' if anything.

People have been predicting this for over 10 years, if it was going to happen it would have happened years ago. Nothing currently is becoming more or less 'corporate' than it has been for many many years.
I remember people here assumed 'ITV Breakfast' was going to be the new name for GMTV, 'because that would be typical of ITV'
There are definitely plans to streamline some of the regional news names around the country to try and provide a bit more consistency. For example, I'm fairly certain ITV News London will replace the more traditional London Today and London Tonight, and expect similar changes in other regions.

Ironically, such a change could result in YTV's regional name getting resurrected, as Calendar's name doesn't include the word Yorkshire, and such a name format would make Calendar's new name ITV News Yorkshire.
I'm not entirely sure how it will work for other regions. Maybe ITV News Calendar? or ITV News Granada? I just know the network wants to have a more standardised approach to the naming of regional bulletins. Exactly how that will be implemented though, I'm not sure (apart from London which I think is more or less decided now).
