Yeah, but in what font and size? Will itv and News be the same size or will itv be smaller like on the 1999 logo?

What I find a bit interesting* is that they've gone with a flat colour for the logos for channels - I know they were going for one colour, but that they didn't go for four similar shades of the colour to keep the texture of the main channel logo. A minor difference but there we go.

(*interesting is a relative term, before anyone makes a joke about my life Razz)

Also "relatively" interesting is that ITV3 and ITV4 seem to be basically different shades of blue. Looking at these channel logos I don't think it'll be too long until someone decides the ITV logo needs to get back in it's box.

As has been said, ITV4 will be grey. It just looks slightly blu-ish on the caps because of the scale.

I think it looks alright in a solid colour - better than in the colour stripes - but now the ITV logo just looks wrong to me without a 1 next to it.

There's not much personality in these logos though is there. Not that the current set is much better but at least they were heading in the right direction by making ITV 2 very different.

Channel 4 have a better approach I think with unique logos for each channel that still all tie together nicely.

Considering the amount of problems mockers in The Gallery have had producing an ITV logo that doesn't look awful because of the unfortunate combination of letters, I'd say this (and the recently revealed channel logos) work much better than any previous generic ITV effort.

CITV's logo is my favourite out of the variants, and I think, with well-designed idents and a cohesive brand, this logo could last quite a while.

Yes, this logo will live and die on the idents. I do wonder though why along with changing the logo they're also changing the colour schemes for ITV2 and ITV3 in particular - for ITV2 especially the green has become quite distinctive.

I think it's got to be a total change.

I think the idea is to really make everyone notice it's a totally different ITV now to the one it was in 2006.

For better or worse...

FWIW I think they're going to pull this off well and it will be the best rebrand. The logo is slightly polarising but I think many are warming to it, and many viewers who are initially skeptical will quickly get used to and like the brand.

As has been said the logo is a really strong way of using the awkward itv letters into a symbol of sorts.

The problem with that is that in my eyes it's only the image & branding of ITV1 that has been the problem. The colours, and the current branding of 2, 3 & 4 work very well through colouring, theme & tone of the brands.

I think red will be better for ITV2 than the lime green.

I also reckon dark blue for ITV3 suits the channel to a tee.

And Navy for ITV News is ideal. Wouldn't want anything else.

ITV4 is possibly the weakest being grey, though it'd be very interesting if much of the pres was desaturated / heavy in grey.

Then green for Sport; not so sure on this one. Could look good, or could look garish.

One thing I'm not sure about is the reported plans to rename ITV Player to just "ITV".

Doesn't make sense to me especially with the other networks all giving it a name - iPlayer, 4OD, Demand 5 etc.

Is that there idea too, I'd not heard that about ITV Player.

I thought the intention was just to rename ITV1 to ITV - which I think is illogical, and will be reversed in time after confusion over which channel they are promoting.

I don't like the logo, particularly, but it's not the worst one they've used, and I'll wait to see how it's executed on screen. If it's just a logo 'slapped on some art college footage', as I suspect: then the rebrand will fail - BADLY.
