Do you think it's current varied use means it's not working - and a new logo is required - or perhaps the current logo could work well if used consistantly.
On the other hand, maybe what some view as non-consistant use of the brand could be viewed as a very flexible logo!
Maybe the logo should be developed further - perhaps just using the font without the squares / box - or putting in a different shape, i.e. a circle "ABC" style!
I think at the moment the ITV logo isn't working. I think there is no need for it to be split up into 3 boxes. The ITV logo in a rectangular box (like before the refresh) would work better than what we have currently and it would also work across all channels. This would give it consistant appearance everywhere that ITV appears - reinforcing the brand.
I don't think ITV appearing out of a box works at all. The ITV News channel logo looks like it was put together in 2 seconds without a thought about creating a strong image for the overall company.
What started out as a strong brand has been watered down into a mess.
I've always thought that ITV missed a trick when they went for a completely different logo style rather than developing their old logo, which although was old-fashioned, I think had a lot of potential to modernise.
I'm not keen on the current solution - as far as I'm concerned they don't seem to have any one identifiable logo - rather a mish-mash of different logos using the same font, many of them looking like a complete rip-off of the BBC's logo - not good branding sense at all.
Having said that, I do think that the letters I, T and V are by their very nature unusually difficult to work with in creating a logo that looks good!
With the risk of this becoming a mocks thread... I would like to see something bold, recognisable, and versatile... something like this...
Not sure I think when introduced in 1989 it was to join together the network however by the time the new logo came in they deem it unnessesary either that or something to do with international distribution.
I like the 1989 logo, more serious and powerful looking than the logo we have today, though I couldn't see it fitting in today, how would it look for ITV's 2, 3 and News. That's the good thing about the boxed logo, an extra box can be added snugly next to the logo when a new channel is added.
