(and I think a lack of regional news during GMTV).

"Tomorrow due to essential work to the electricity supply at ITV head offices in London, don't ask, there will be no local news during GMTV"

So it WAS planned and warned about. Although one would think Leeds should have the ability to control the south too.

I think the issue is that as recently as 5 years ago, a failure in one building wouldn't have prevented so many regions from opting out.

So you reckon that spending millions of pounds on duplicating resources across the country is worth it just in case of a rare problem in London?

They already have more of a backup than the other 4 analogue channels!

Given that it was planned maintenance, there could have been a better alternative put into place, such as getting Arquiva or BT Tower to switch the incoming circuits from the regions into the distribution circuits for the relevant region.

It's ludicrous to suggest that Ofcom should fine ITV for breaching the terms of their licences when the circumstances were out of their control. It was essential maintenance - what were they supposed to do?

The nature of broadcasting means that on occasions such work needs carrying out, and Ofcom are fully accepting of this. Otherwise broadcasters would be fined every time a transmitter needed to go off air due to engineering work. And ITV1 Border's licence would have been revoked for not broadcasting when their studios were under water in the Carlisle floods.

Bingo Night Live not on tonight. Instead they replaced it with 2 Creature Comforts and a TV's Naughtiest Blunders introduced with a still breakbumper.

Nothings been said about it other than 'we're having some problems' so no specific details as to whats going on.

The website says it is on now (11:20am) and the cards I got yesterday are still there (which suggests the game wasn't played at all). No mention of what the problem was though.

Wondering what happened to last night's show?

Due to major technical problems last night, Bingo Night Live was not broadcast and we were unable to play any of the scheduled bingo games or magic number draws.

If you had activated your cards for last night’s show, your bingo tickets and magic number will be valid for tonight’s show instead.

You do not need to do anything further; your cards will be automatically carried across to tonight’s show and entered into the next games.

Bingo Night Live will broadcast tonight at 00.10, right after Bouncers on ITV1.

Please note: If you printed your cards yesterday, the date on the cards will be incorrect and should be ignored.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

All the best for tonight's show!

The words "technical problems" have now been changed to "power outage".

Good! The phrase 'technical problems' is a pet hate of mine as it seems to be used in place of everything from "presenter didn't turn up" to "studio on fire".
