Sorry if Im being thick but surely Channel should have had London as we get stuff from Meridian?

I don't think it works like that any more. Channel used to recieve TVS/Meridian off air and then opt out with their own stuff.

Things are diffrent these days, I think the old connection between Meridian/Channel is no more. I assume that Channel gets a feed from London which they just opt out of locally, if London send them Central in such an eventuality then that's what you see

When I checked Channel on Sky during the news, it was showing Central.

ITV West News was on DTT as normal.

All network shows still in in wrong aspect ratio

I'd assume that as an emergency measure they're just putting out a single, basic 14:9 feed of network programmes until everything is sorted.

Looks odd on digital, looks fine on analogue... so not perfect but better than a black screen

I assume Channel's backhaul to the Astra uplink goes via the South Bank too ? Presumably they opted out normally, with their own news on analogue, and this would have been on the inward feed into the South Bank, it's just that it couldn't be routed to the Astra uplink site, so instead the Cen W feed was routed ?

I think CTV still get a 'dirty' sustaining feed of Meridian 'Rowridge', rather than the cleaner feed that the other southern ITV regions get from London.

Two reasons, national advertising is still sold as an 'add on' to the Meridian region, and as so they simply opt out of the end of some breaks for local ads. Secondly, rather like a BBC region, they can fall back on the London feed in case of failure, or for just not needing to staff the pres control room off peak etc.

Euro 2008 was over running on ITV4, but its just abruptly cut to World's Most Dangerous Police Chases, with the DOG going AWOL in the process.

ITV Wales through Sky Digital are showing Central Tonight, whilst analogue are showing Wales Tonight.

Must be a major problem if they can't get the Sky playouts sorted.
