Are the new credit designs just a replacement for the programmes that don't use their own backgrounds for credits, or will shows like Emmerdale now use the plain generic background.
Personally I was hoping that though the same ECP style would remain, the generic backgrounds would be ditched.
From what I've seen so far ITV3 looks by far the best - slick and stylish. ITV2 will certainly be a recognisable brand, though I'm not keen on the green, but I think ITV1 is quite poor in all aspects I've seen.
It just seems stupid that little over a year ago they decided the "1" needed to be given much greater prominence - and now with this new batch it just seems to blend into the background.

That's the same with all marketing campaigns though, a big fuss is made and then a few months later it starts to plod along and gets dropped
If ITV Day is axed this will be an example of this, also the ITV2 sub-brands x:tra, re:play etc were a good device and will no doubt go.
Have you noticed that the ITV1 idents with clips of the programme embedded haven't been used for months instead its just the generic idents everytime. The menu idents are hardly used anymore as well

I'd totally forgotten they even had the idents with clips in. Just shows what a poor package the current ident set has been, and really this relaunch is the best thing that can happen. It may not be to everyone's taste, but at least it'll bring a deal of uniformity and a sense of professionalsim back to ITV.

They've had so many relaunches/new identities since 2002 I'm beginning to think they should give up and give control back to the regions!

And after all that hype - "you won't have seen anything like it" they promised, saying the 2004 relaunch would revolutionise programme junctions. Extra APs were hired to produce the Now and Next idents, apparently. So what did they do all day, sit and drink tea?
Far from being revolutionary, the current look was more "back to basics" and if nothing else gave ITV1 a more traditional feel. I for one will miss it.

I've always felt that past relaunches were never relaunches at all, just refreshes of the current look. The current batch is different but it didn't move too far away from the logo and the four blocks stayed. This time, this is a whole brand new look. The idents are designed so that more can be added in later years so that they don't get stale. IMO, I think this will be the best look ITV has had in a very long time. It looks very professional and I'm sure it will look great on screen, I'm so delighted that they are getting rid of the current look which has just always came across as cheap and tacky to me. I think everything about it is just brilliant and I'm so glad that everything is being changed. I especially like the promos, and I'm especially impressed with ITV Two's and Three's, both are original and slick. Fantastic.

Well said
. These "arty" idents are going to make ITV1 look like a second rate cable channel hardly worthy of a license to broadcast to the suburbs of Rekjavik.
With marketing moves like this I suspect that all the senior executives in ITV are on controlled substances these days

I agree with that although I did think the menu ident (I presume that means the one where it swung round from the menu into the logo) was quite snazzy.
It's just a shame the v/os are so dire.

Awwwwwww
Hymagumba.................we are a small band of poeple who liked the current set of idents.
I actually too thought the spinning squares was great. I am sad it's going on Monday, to be replaced by someone's home videos with a "slap on" logo.
Slap me in the face with a wet fish....I'll film it as an ident for itv1, see how the teatime audience likes THAT!
