Basically, its because the then BBC One controller, asked Lambie-Nairn to replace the globe with dancers. BBC One is ditching the dancers soon, RedBee may be asked to do the new look, or Lambie-Nairn, or even someone else, but its down to what the channel controller asks for, and from who...
Oh, I know all that, but I just think it's amazing that one part of an organisation can come up with dross like the dancers, and the same part can come up with (what appear to be) some excellent idents for a rival network. I'm surprised the dancers even got off the drawing board, but that's the previous controllers fault for you. Meh.
The dancers were the work of Lambie-Nairn. the ITV idents are the work of Red Bee (formerly BBC Broadcast). They're not the same company, or even part of the same organisation.
Correct me if I'm wrong people, wasn't there a mention somewhere that the contract to rebrand BBC One been given to Red Bee already and that the new look is in research and development stage already? Maybe I'm wrong.
