I hope they go back to using end credits that are designed as part of the overall look of the individual programme, like they used to be. I guess that won't be happening though.

I have a feeling scrolling credits might be reintroduced, as the Coronation Street Panto used them, and they worked well with the current EPG format. Just shows that scrolling credits can be used and squashed into an EPG at the same time.

Let's just hope they do the decent thing and kill off ECPs, and let producers have free rein on credit style.

Yes, well you hope for that and I'll hope for a million quid.

And we can all live together in the land of chocolate.

I can't help but thinkning but when CiTV launches as a sepaerate channel in a few weeks time, does this mean that in the run up ITVplc will take FULL control of GMTV?

At this present moment in time GMTV has a spin-off channel - GMTV2 which shows 95% children's programmes including pre-school and imported animation mainly between 7am to 925 (Monday to Friday) 6am to 925 (Saturday - and they are seperate programmes to those shown on GMTV1) and between 6 and about 825 (Sunday). But when ITV launches the spin-off CiTV channel then it will be creating competiton effectively against itself!!!!!

Does anyone know what will happen to GMTV2 when the new CiTV spin-off is created? Will The Scott Chisholm Show (as part of the old ITV NC) replace children's programmes on GMTV2?

Note in 2004 ITV News relaunched with the Morning News - but that was when the MN was the first programme of the day on the ITV NC - now it's the last programme presents by the overnight team.

Col Mustard has already told us that the new-look ITV News debuts at 5.30

So doesn't that create a high chance of the new idents being premiered at the 6am junction into GMTV?

not really no. Remember overnight announcements are recorded in bulk. I'm also doubtful the Morning News will be the first with the new look.

Would the new idents not premiere at the 5:30 junction, seeing as it's the "beginning of the day"? (After nightscreen, into MN)

Wouldn't be the first time, ITV4 effectively competes with Men and Motors.

6am is the start of the day. That's 06:00.00. The ident at 05:59.50 is therefore part of yesterday!.
Just think about the Xmas idents on BBC1, last used apparantly before Breakfast

They are hardly going to say 'Good morning and welcome to a brand new look here on ITV1 as we join GMTV'

It looks to me those two are going to hump the tree Laughing

Seriously is this the new ITV1 ident, this is a joke right!

ITV3 idents look like class to me, there's some thought process gone into that, ITV2 is very good as well, ITV4 well forget it, but ITV1, these new idents are simply not right for ITV's premier channel!

Well after seeing one of the itv2 idents in action, I don't think it's fair for you, or anyone else to comment until they see them in action.

you need to see them in proper 16:9 and at proper resolution before you can judge them...

Not necessarily! Conventional wisdom says that but not at ITV. 05:59:59 is still technically part of the 'previous' day schedule - the idents will not air until 09:25:00 - the start of the ITV1 day. ITV1 technically closes down when GMTV starts!

Isn't it an emotion? Surely these people are so overcome with happiness at watching ITV1 that they choose to show this by hugging the nearest tree. I can see it catching on.
