anyone fancy having a go at designing what Scottish TV may look like as I doubt they'll be able to ignore this presentation change, since we still have the celeb idents up here in bonnie Scotland!

Na, SMG'll stay with the same presentation probably. Or if they do take this new look, it'll remain on screen years after ITV scrapped it.

I'm sure Scottish TV will adapt, I mean they are stuck in the past aren't they, best to modernise Smile

Apparently, it will all get a new look on November 1st with ITV4.

It would make sense. However, somebody on here said that there was a lot of work still to be done and that the refresh could no way be ready by 01/11. Don't know what their sources were though...

Basically taken the words there timewarp.

It would make sense for a relaunch then, but it really does depend on whether the rest of the package(s) are ready.

And lets not run headlong into a new identify like the previous 4 attempts...

Surely the constant change in logos, idents, trailer and other branding must have been very damaging to ITV other the last few years. I think it would cause a loss of credibility for ITV if they go into their ITV4 launch with a completely different look. Their logos already cause confusion for me, so if they decided to relaunch each channel/service separately it would look a complete mish-mash.
In my opinion, I think they should wait until all of the rebranding for the entire network is complete before launching ITV4. It would mean backtracking on what they have already said, but I think its a necessary price to pay to ensure continuity.

Does anyone else agree or am I alone on this?

You talk of constantly changing logos but the general public won't have noticed this, both celebrity looks were basically the same thing and the current presentation is so inoffensive that that doesn't count either.

If anything, a new ITV logo on ITV4 only will give it more impact than just a logo that's basically ITV1 with a 4 slapped at the end.

People are also forgetting that BBC4 launched ages before BBC3 which was much more stranger than just different presentation

Is there any proof that a whole rebrand is on the cards. It'll cost an absolute fortune in signs & logo not to mention those natty little news sets that are turning up across the region. Dumping the squares and colours does not seem very practical.

I might be wrong, but weren't BBC ONE, BBC TWO and BBC FOUR all relaucnhed together, but BBC THREE was left because they hadn't recieved the a-OK from the government yet? I might have got my wires crossed.

And yes, it's true it would cost a huge amount of money for ITV, which was why I was surprised that a rebrand was on the cards in the first place. So close to the last rebrand, it seems pointless. The four squares are already a key brand identity for the network - why change?

Rebranding a channel is one thing thats cheap enough but if they are rebranding the entire company with logos and all the marketing crap that goes with it it will cost millions. The last time the BBC changed everything in the 90's and straightened up the 3 squares it cost over 3 million just for the basic signage and letterheads. That took over 2 years to complete (BBC Leeds never did get around to it).

I also thought the same thing, I expected the new marketing person to come up with loads of radical ideas only for Charles Allen to say that you can change the idents etc but you can't change the logo.

But never the less it seems to be happening, but we don't know to what extent the corporate side of ITV will change
