Not too sure if it animated or not. I just had the TV on in the background and happened to glance over at it when the promo was finishing and caught the end of it. I didn't even catch on that that's what it was until afterwards!
With the rest of the ITV1 presentation it could work quite well and I'm sure there's probably more than one variation of it. On UTV on the other hand, it looks absolutely awful as we now have a mish-mash of three different types of end boards in circulation at the moment. The others will probably be phased out and replaced with the ITV1 style eventually but at the minute it just looks awful!

I can't see how this works -- surely if the program image is in the grey area, some will be cut off on non widescreen TVs?

yes as far as i can remember it was like benjy's mock where lines animated like a barcode to give the endboard of the programme promotion
