This is all very interesting. So the regional logo includes the region underneath the "ITV" text? That sounds slightly odd.
And a font? ITV Medium?
Sounds like it could be good.

The Welsh variant has the world Wales in lettering aligned underneath the word ITV. The shiny reflection is with some of its on-screen appearances, and not technically part of the logo. Look out for sliding vertical lines, too. (but not full-height, a la Channel 4. The font is called ITV Medium.

What about UTV?
I would be happy with
ITV1 Ulster
Do you think they should be in the re brand?

Sorry for earlier posts that I have got info from.
But talking recently to a media source I have found out that the launch of the new look ITV will be 2 weeks from New year. The Christmas idents finish on New Years day it is said.

Oh come on, many have suggested that date already, and all signs point to that period due to the "refreshed" ITV News come Jan 16th.

Since they are just after blowing the bank with new music for their "sheep in fields" idents I cant see there being much of a change in the new year.
But whatever they do I hope they stick with UTV.

Yep, with the UTV Jingle making its long feared comeback, its not likely UTV will be changing to anything else anytime soon.
As for ITV1 Ulster...well there is a reason they dropped the name "Ulster Television", and its rather unlikely they will go back at this stage. If anything, if ITV plc ever get their hands on UTV and do rebrand it, it will probably be simply ITV1 - the name that would annoy the least number of people.

I always wonder if SMG had bought out UTV in 1997, increasing the stake of 20% that they held, if they would have reverted to the name "Ulster Television" or "Ulster TV".
I would think that if UTV were ever bought out by ITV, Ofcom would put pressure on them to either keep the UTV identity, or least rebrand the station as ITV1 Northern Ireland, keeping a presentation department at Havelock House (or new premises, considering UTV have axed almost all of their regional programmes it wouldn't surprise me if a studio move happened in future) and allowing the station the power to opt-out of network when they want to.
