Is it definate that the news is relaunching? They only had a new look last year. And many regions have only recently had new sets, cant see them changing them again.

And what date is all this supposed to be happening? November 1st?
The news will surely have to relaunch if we get new ITV logos? also they have ditched the four squares so its likely.

ITV4 is definitely 1st November, don't know about the rest of ITV but its rumoured that the rest ties in with it.

Maybe the sets are easy to paint? Rolling Eyes Confused Very Happy

No and I doubt it will, it'll just be a slight change to incorporate the new itv logo.
As you say the news only relaunched last year, most news looks last about 5 years.

People are getting carried away and when the new ITV idents to relaunch in 2006 they will have got so worked up they will be disappointed (but that is the TV Forum way every time)

guess. i reckon the national news will get a fabalous new look, but the regional news will look like its been put together at the last minute, much like how it looks today. Sad

whereas the national news has the itv logo, there is no appearance ofr the itv logo in the regional news programme, apart from text form in ITV Wales News. i guess it'll be the same sort of thing for the new look Crying or Very sad

True actually BUT its not so easy

With the current logo its so simple to adapt, because you just plonk text above the 4 squares. But the squares are going, so now what will they do?

Jez is also right about the sets, it's going to be bad if all the sets look wrong, unless they fork out on new sets for all of the regions. Not to mention new titles, graphics etc etc
Beat me to it! Very Happy

Unless they are really working hard and have been for ages I can't see how it will all be ready for 1 Nov. So its likely that only ITV 4 will be done for then.

Do you have confirmed info about the new ITV idents launching in 2006?

Also, you say the news will keep the same titles but just change logo slightly, so are you saying you think the four squares will remain?

And are you also saying that you think the regional identities will stay the same, with the four squares, in the blue and yellow that they have promised to drop?

The set will use new CSO backings, and the titles will change, the music will probably stay, just the regional and national titles will be replaced.

Anything involving the 4 squares, or the blue and yellow colour scheme will change.

Nothing has ever said that ITV News will change. There's nothing to stop ITV News still using blue and yellow, I mean there arn't that many colours to choose from!

I don't think the 4 squares will remain, but I do think that most of the current look will remain just slightly altered

How many news revamps have been an afterthought on the back of some channels receiving a new ident, and how many have been a seperate big affair in its own right?

Exactly which is why I doubt they will change the national or regional news. As someone else has suggested perhaps they will have new titles but I think the sets and music will stay the same.

1st November is a Tuesday - surely they would normally have a new look on a Monday?

I don't understand. Why would the rest of ITV rebrand after ITV4 launches? Surely it would make sense to have the whole rebrand to coincide with the launch of ITV4, so then it actually looks like it's part of ITV's 'family of channels'. Cool Confused

Well that would be the most logical thing to do, like last year when ITV3 launched on the same day as a new set of presentation was launched.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking. It would look strange when they were saying next over on ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and then they bung on the ITV4 logo at the end which doesn't fit in.
