Yes the Yorkshire name was mentioned before Corrie. However the female announcer this evening is the one who uses the names the most and seems confident in doing so

Yorkshire has been used again before Rich and Famous
And again. One thing I've noticed is that if the announcement is going to be local/recorded the sound of the ident fades quite abruptly, as opposed to the smooth transition of generic announcements. I think that happens on YTV as well, but does it happen on Border or Granada? I'm guessing not for Granada as they're the 'prime' station so their announcement will go out live, possibly?

Often the start of the annoucement is cut off, when doing recordings, such
'er on ITV2 now, ..'
'ris Tarant presents Who... etc etc

The male CA on LWT is called Glen Thompson. He used to be a DJ at Invicta FM in Kent and also reads the news on Meridian in the early hours and sometimes does Meridian Tonight (South-East).
I don't know who the female voice belongs to.
Back to my region. Most of the announcing is done by Meridian as Channel take the Meridian Southampton feed and we also get our own announcers who also read the late news (money saving).
As Anglia and Meridian were only bought by GMG recently, they havent been fully intergrated into the GMG network of ITV1 regions. Therefore, all there output comes from a seperate location than Leeds, probably Norwich or Southampton.
Prior to the merger with GMG Anglia and Meridian were owned by United, and both channels presentation was handled by Meridian from their Southampton base. Trails and presentation material was identical, apart from a small Anglia or Meridian logo, which I believe was added live in the presentation suite, as it often didn't appear and disappear identically to the trail!
I would imagine this is continuing at the moment, if they have not moved to playout from Leeds.
Meridian and Anglia are both highly sub-regional - with at least 6 advert sub-regions between them, and five different regional news shows. I would imagine the costs of feeding all this to Leeds from Norwich, Southampton, Newbury and Maidstone, and then back to at least 6 different transmitters, would be quite expensive, in addition to the additional kit required at Leeds for the actual playout. Even if they dropped some advert splits between transmitters, there are still 5 news regions...
True, but between the 4 GMG North stations there are 9 sub-regions as well (3 YTV, 1 Granada, 2 Border and 3 TTTV (North, South and Chatton (ads only)). Also Norwich is no further from Leeds than Carlisle is, and also Norwich to Leeds I think is a bit closer than Norwich to Southampton.
Of course Southampton is a long distance but I'm not so sure that's a problem anyway.
I don't think it would be a good idea as far as presentation is concerned to run the two from Leeds but it would certainly save money. As I understand it the Leeds operation is scalable quite easily now, the hard work is done.
A bit off-topic, but the guy who does the Anglia weekday evenings at the mo (Mr Monotone-with-too-long-pauses-between-words) should be shot. Maybe GMG Leeds presentation would be an improvement on him. Come back Katie Glass - please!!!!

No believe me your better off with what you have now, the presentation for the Northern ITV Franchises is appalling. BTW do Anglia still use `coming up next` heart captions, they did a few months ago
So regionalalised announcements 2 nights in a row.
It seems that its only the old male and old female announcers that dont use the equipment.
Its The younger announcers do - Which I think makes it 50/50 either way.
