LWT has it's own continuity suite. It is totally independent of Granada and indeed Carlton London.
urban, any timescale for Meridian/Anglia to be absorbed into Leeds? Last I heard it was on the cards, but that was months ago.....

OK then, I conceed that Granada's continuity DOES NOT come from the Granada News Center in Machester, obviously the person who told me that was in big error. But what happens if Granada in Manchester loses feeds from the Northern Transmission Office in Leeds. They'd be a bit buggered then wouldnt they...

What about Anglia and Meridian?

Sorry to disappoint you, but Granada's continuity does NOT come from the News centre in Manchester but the Northern transmission Centre at Leeds as does all the continuity for Tyne Tees, Border, Yorkshire. LWT's comes from the London Television Centre on the South Bank as does Carltons.
As for Carltons Central region that comes from Birmingham and NOT Nottingham. Hope that clears up the matter.

As Anglia and Meridian were only bought by GMG recently, they havent been fully intergrated into the GMG network of ITV1 regions. Therefore, all there output comes from a seperate location than Leeds, probably Norwich or Southampton.

So is Anglia and Meridian continuity going to come from Leeds soon. I really hope not, dont know how it could cope having six regions to look after it could`t manage three before Border joined them. I suppose it will all be generic ITV1 announcements, does anyone know if this is actually going to happen?

Something I noticed on Yorkshire when I was visiting my family, I was there for two days and saw Calendar both days. The first day there was an announcement which said 'Now, it's time for the news from the heart of OUR region.' which was obviously pre-recorded and sounded very phoney, the next day there was a proper announcement 'Good evening from Yorkshire Television, now it's time for us to catch up on the latest events in the region with Calendar.'
I have to say that LWT just wouldn't be LWT without Mr & Mrs LWT, you know them - the guy is the one with the deepish voice and is LWT's main CA. Mrs LWT is the main woman CA. They are both pleasant ad you get a sense of familiarity from them which you also get to a certain extent on Carlton but not as much because they have more CAs I think.
Compared to most people I'm lucky but I'd still like the return of IVC.
PS. I could've sworn I heard some generic announcements on Anglia before Anglia News without a mention of the channel or name of the programme but on the whole they're good. Don't Anglia and Meridian share a CA suite or something like that?

Of course -- but then that would never happen -- the channel is broadcast from Leeds, the signal is sent from there to NTL. I agree that they'd be stuffed if the link went down and they were doing local news at the time
But then that is true for Tyne Tees, Border, Grampian, Westcountry and Anglia as well to be fair. The fact that Granada is the only large station to have no continuity of its own doesn't make it a special case.....

The 'News from our region' announcement used to be used by Maggie/Him off Radio Leeds often, but isn't used at all these days.
The main programme at 5.30/5.55/6.00 always got/gets a fully regionalised annoucement, as the 3/4 different programmes all start at different times.
All regional programmes plus about 95% of Regional News programmes have regionalised annoucements thesedays, about 50% of network programme annoucements are regionalised too.
Plus, you might think living in the UTV region would be good, but aparantly, they don't have any continuity at all during the daytimes, often 'fall-off air' in the early hours of the morning, and also mess around with Credits Promotions, using credits that have been rigged up in house from an episode 3 weeks ago.
